Standarize information pages about weapons, equipment, and sets for better information display and easier editing/creating pages. Currently, the display of information is very inconsistent.

Examples

  • Infinity Robes set vs Mystic Robes set: Infinity Robes set display each item stats individually and has a total at the end vs Mystic Roves set only has item totals. A set should list all of its items and have a total at the end.
  • Weapons: Special attack information is spread throughout the page and takes time to find. Should have its own section to description of the special attack and how much % it consumes.

Discussion

Comment- First I want to just point out this, Be bold, you can try and change these if you think it is needed; Big edits didn't stop other users. Wink But secondly, I want to point out that your comment about special attack information to be irrelevant and untrue since we have a page just for Special attacks and there usually is a animation and other general information in a specified subsection about the special attack. So there might be a few pages that have scattered information but overall I don't see many flaws with that. I also want to ask. What exactly do you want done? Hair 00:41, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

Comment - I don't see how a standardised 'template' would hurt on pages that are broadly similar in what they might contain.

A template wouldn't really work because they're very limited and not very edit friendly (to newbies, anyway). As well, going through all the pages to apply a theoretical template would be as much work as standardizing them. You can always tag articles with {{Cleanup|Reason}} if you don't have the time/ability/whatever to fix the pages up yourself. By bringing it to our attention, I was able to standardize your mystic robes example. The style guide could always be updated to be more specific, but only a small core group of users even know about the style guide, and even less have likely read the thing. Perhaps template was the wrong choice of word - more like a checklist of what each page would contain. So for say... Zamorakian spear we might have a section on it's stats, it's special attack, which monster(s) drop it and where they're located, a trivia section, the usual item infobox, a detailed image and perhaps the box that says it's the fastest spear in the game preceded by whatever spear came before it. I would imagine all of this is contained within the article and is probably a mental checklist for most regular editors as well, but it would be nice to have a set list of things to include that we can use to overhaul equipment pages quickly when something new arises and to apply to new items as and when they're released. I'm not saying it's necessary, just helpful and an easy way to direct newer editors to what should be on the page.

Perhaps 'template' was too strong of a word. All I am suggesting is to clean up the wiki so information is quickly and cleanly delivered to whomever the reader is. Most people, I imagine, use the wiki as a quick source of information to whatever they are looking for. Reading a paragraph just to get that information would certainly slow things down. Closed - Hardly any discussion at all.. As previously mentioned, you can be bold and do it yourself or tag the appropriate articles for cleanup. User:Urbancowgurl777/Signature 15:54, February 11, 2012 (UTC)
