The Giant Roc is a monster encountered during My Arm's Big Adventure.

The Giant Roc is fightable as a class C boss monster in the Dominion Tower minigame if the player has completed My Arm's Big Adventure.

Strategy[]

It uses both melee and ranged attacks, which hit up to 120 and 200 life points respectively. Players are highly recommended to activate the Prayer Protect from Missiles when fighting this creature. My Arm will also attack the bird, but his attacks only tend to hit 10 to 30, so the player should not rely on this. Players should beware, as this monster has been the unfortunate ending to those who come unprepared. A one-click teleport can prove very useful.

During battle, the Giant Roc will frequently buffet the player with its wings, knocking them backwards and damaging and stunning them for a short time, similar to Nial Swiftfling's attacks during the Glorious Memories quest. This can be countered by standing against a rock or wall, but the attack will still stun. The Roc has no weakness, meaning all attacks are equally effective in dispatching it. Players can usually only land a few hits on the Roc before it blows them back, making it fairly hard to fight. If players do not wish to melee the Roc up close, then they can try ranging the Roc with their backs to the wall or behind the farming patch.

The Giant Roc will also destroy a cannon if used against it.

There is a safespot for mages and rangers on the far end of the mountainside, where the ladder is. By positioning yourself correctly, the Roc's massive size will make it unable to pass the torch that is between it and the ladder, meaning that it cannot come and melee you. Combine this with Protect from Missiles and the only thing you have to worry about is the Roc's buffeting wings, making this fight not nearly as difficult as usual.

Note: Pures attempting to not gain exp from this kill by recoiling will find that, at least for now, the bird will be left with 1lp. It's unknown whether or not finishing it off with combat will count as a full kill or not.

Trivia[]

  • The Giant Roc is the RuneScape counterpart to the legendary Persian bird, the Roc.
  • The Giant Roc within the Dominion Tower has a chance of dropping a long bone or curved bone upon death (although this is an extremely rare case).
