An Item glitch is a fault in the game programming that affects an item or items in an unexpected way. Many item glitches are listed below.

Anger Weapons Glitch

There was a glitch where players can take the Anger Weapons outside of the Tolna's rift from A Soul's Bane quest. However, the weapons did not hold their special abilities to hit extremely high.

Magic Carpet Stilts Glitch

Template:Fixed If a player wore the Audience male shoes or leggings (a reward from Balthazar Beauregard's Big Top Bonanza) while riding a magic carpet, it looked like the shoes/trousers were getting pulled to the ground through the carpet. This glitch was discovered on 18 October 2008 and has now been fixed. This also happened with various other items.

Crazy Head and Crazy Hand Glitch

The Crazy Head glitch was a glitch that was released with the quest Smoking Kills. If a player's character was female, had the "long" hair style, and was wearing the masked earmuffs headgear, their head would stretch all over the place when performing emotes or holding objects such as the pet rock. Some players discovered it just after the quest arrived when they performed random emotes with that combination. This glitch had been known to happen with several hair styles and headgear combinations. This also happened if a player's character was female and was wearing snakeskin vambraces, and did the "clap" emote. Their hands would be waving back and forth.

Both the Crazy Head glitch and the Crazy Hand glitch have been fixed, but has recently been seen once more. It was then fixed again.

The Arm Glitch

This glitch would happen whenever a female wore snakeskin vambraces. Anything worn on the body with long sleeves would make this glitch more effective. Once the player would do the glitch the player's arms would stretch a little bit too far.

Guthix Rest tea glitch

Template:Fixed The Guthix Rest tea glitch was discovered in the One Small Favour quest. This tea instantly restored 100% of your life points when a player drank it. It was only supposed to boost the maximum life points if a player was at full health. This glitch was abused to win duels at the Duel Arena and to PK without dying.

The glitched tea had the following effects:

  • Cure from poison
  • Restore some run energy
  • Boost max life points by 50 if at full health.

Saradomin Sword Glitch

This glitch happened when a player wielded a Saradomin sword and wore a Team 23 Cape. It made the bottom of the sword connect to the cape. There are no changes that effect gameplay in any way.

Prince Outfit Glitch

This glitch was first discovered on 15 November 2008. The glitch was triggered by wearing a Prince outfit in a Player-owned house along with Boxing gloves. It seemed as though the player dragged his outfit up with their boxing gloves. It was basically the same appearance as the Dorgeshuun crossbow special attack glitch, except that the prince outfit was pulled up, not the skin, and it happened on both sides.

Satchel and H.A.M. Cloak Glitch

When wearing at least a Red satchel with a H.a.m cloak, they stretched and connected to each other.

This also works with a Rune satchel and the Castle War reward capes.

Face Disappearance Glitch

Whilst wearing the Lederhosen Hat and talking to an NPC, the top part of the player's head would vanish. When talking with the Tyras helm, the player would appear as if they are missing their mouth.

Stretchy Cat Face

If you have a wily cat and ask it how old it is with a Catspeak Amulet (e) (not known if it works with regular catspeak amulet) the cat's face appears to stretch.

Dropping a members object

Template:Fixed On 16 January 2009 there was a glitch where you couldn't drop a members object. There were only two options to choose, use and examine. The only way to lose a members object that day was to get skulled and die or have an item of greater value. This glitch was fixed the next day.

Wearing Cabbage Glitch

During the 2009 April fools event, players wielding a cabbage in a crowded place (for instance the Grand Exchange or the Party Room) would appear to be wearing the cabbage instead, as the normal wield stances are changed. This occurs with all weapons when the screen changes to "low detail" when more than 50/200 people are in the game screen (depending on your display settings). This glitch is known to occur with other weapons such as kites (which appear to be strung in mid-air).

PvP Drop Potential Glitch

Template:Fixed This glitch happened when players summoned a Beast of Burden Summoning Familiar and stored high value items in it, after this they would log out and then log into a F2p PvP world, die 15-20 times fooling the system into thinking they died that amount of times with the value of the stored Summoning familiar's items. Players would then log into a Members PvP world and kill players, resulting in high value drops caused by the drop potential system. A player reported to have received 2 dragon full helmets, 2 amulets of fury and a dragonfire shield in 15 minutes using this method. This glitch was discovered by a player on 11 April, 2009 and became widespread known on 12 April, 2009. It was fixed as of 13 April. It is not yet known when it became possible to abuse this bug, though Andrew has stated that "this bug was in the game for a while before it was discovered". It is believed that thousands of high level main accounts will be banned for bug abuse as a result, with many large player killing clans encouraging their members to abuse the glitch.

Any player attempting the glitch now can still be banned for bug abuse since they attempted to abuse a bug.

PvP Death Glitch

Template:Fixed In some cases, when a player killed someone on PvP world in the bank, that player does not drop any items and is able to retrieve his items back from the floor if he gets back in time, although no gravestone appears. The cause of this glitch is unknown and thus impossible to reproduce on purpose.

Dropping 'Destroy Only' and Pets Glitch

With the update on 2 September 2009 that allowed players to drop items with their bank open, came a glitch that allowed you to drop 'Destroy only' items on the floor (such as holiday items or achievement diary rewards). This could also be done with pets, but the pet would be in item form, not an actual pet. This could also be done with Barrows armour, allowing it to be dropped without it getting broken.

These glitches were both fixed with a live update a few hours after their discovery.

This glitch also led to players obtaining multiple pet cats and multiple god capes from the mage arena activity in the wilderness.

This glitch can also be done when dying. When a player dies while having a 'destroy only'-item and returns to their grave marker to pick up their lost items, the 'destroy only'-items will be dropped there too.

Knife Bug

Template:Fixed The Knife bug was a bug that appeared in RuneScape Classic in 2002 that allowed players to equip multiple normal knives (not intended to be wieldable) and have a high attack and strength bonus. If a player walks in RuneScape Classic and attempts to drop an item, it will not drop until the player stops walking. The glitch took advantage of this, players would put a wieldable weapon in their first inventory slot and fill the rest with knives. Next, they would walk somewhere and click to drop the weapon. Before they stopped moving, they right clicked the weapon again. When the item dropped, It's right click menu would still be up over a space with a knife in it. If the wield option was clicked, a knife was wielded with the same stats of the weapon the player dropped. As many as 29 knives could be wielded at once, allowing for incredibly high hits if the bug was abused properly.

To punish players, Jagex set up a script that did the following:

  • Players with knives equipped while in the Wilderness died instantly upon logging on
  • Players with knives equipped while outside the Wilderness simply had them disappear
  • Players with knives merely in their inventory were not affected at all

When Jagex took manual action, players who PKed with the knives were permanently banned for bug abuse, while players who trained with them were temporarily banned.

Lumbridge range glitch

Template:Fixed Following an update in May 2003, a player who cooks a piece of food on the Lumbridge kitchen range would receive two of that food if player only had one of it in their inventory (otherwise it would cook two items at once). Players were also able to "cook" non-food items (such as jugs) on the stove, and it would show as if the player was using the item, although it would not be duplicated.

Halo walk

The Easter ring glitch is a glitch consisting of walking with the Lumbridge Teleport circle, performed using an Easter ring. This may have been partially fixed by Jagex.

The way to replicate this glitch is by using the home teleport spell then as you finish drawing the circle click on the Easter ring and quickly unmorph back into a human (or click somewhere as if you were going to walk there) then walk around. This bug was partially fixed later on after the Easter event so now you only walk around temporarily with the ring around your feet (lasts for around 2.4 seconds) whereas before it was "fixed" it lasted for a good whole minute or two.

Egg emotes

Another glitch appeared after the 2008 easter event. When having the Air guitar emote, the Explore emote, the Safety first emote and a Skillcape emote you can do the emotes while in egg form. You have to click very fast to do this. The glitch has since been fixed.

When performing the Air Guitar emote while in egg form, you will see music notes coming out of your egg!

Using the Marionette can be done the same way as the other tricks click the Easter ring then immediately right click the puppet, as an egg you will be able to choose which way you wish to play with the puppet. When the puppet is done you will go back to normal.

Invisibility Glitch

This glitch was performed while wearing any type of clothing (armour). Players using this glitch could cause certain parts of their character to become invisible. To do this, players must have worn any piece of armour, then changed their gender at the Make-over mage. This glitch was fixed on 29 September 2008. If the player attempt to change his gender while wearing clothing (armour), the makeover mage will ask the player to remove the clothing first since it will "interfere with his/her magic". If a player were wearing the invisible clothing overnight when the glitch was fixed, the player would remain invisible. This glitch was left unfixed to players who never removed the clothing, some players still have parts of it equipped.

The "Cat" Glitch

Template:Fixed During the RuneScape 2 beta, it was possible for a player to drop items directly from the bank. This new option did not work, instead it would just stay in the bank. There were a few items affected by this however, most notably the Cat and Kitten. A player tried dropping his cat several times through the bank and had no success but, when he left the bank, he had several cats following him. Few players knew how to perform this glitch but, there were armies of kittens and cats walking all over cities for quite some time until Jagex fixed it.

Sledding Glitch

This glitch has two different forms; the invisible sled and the visible sled. A player would be seen squatting as if riding the sled from Troll Romance. Depending on what method was used, the sled may be equipped, or only the stance would show.

Floating Cannon

If you set up a dwarven multicannon on one of the corners of the outermost ring of steps on the Grand Exchange, the cannon will appear to float in midair. If a player stands under the cannon, said player's head would disappear into the base of the cannon, the lower part of the player would still be visible. If the player sat (rested) under the cannon, it looks like the player is balancing the cannon on his/her head.

(this glitch has now been fixed due to the new Grand Exchange update on August-09-2011)

RuneScape 2 Glitch

Template:Fixed Sometime around 2009 a graphics glitch occurred in Runescape HD and Jagex reverted back to the original RuneScape 2 graphics for a brief period of time rather than closing the game down completely until this problem was resolved. This led to some forum posts of players cheering that RuneScape "has returned" while others strongly disliked the "update", as during the time of the glitch most players assumed that this was an update than a glitch.

Eek the Spider glitches

Template:Fixed When selecting the play option with Eek the spider, and then clicking the Zombie Hand emote, a glitch occurred which allowed the spider to make a web in thin air while the player stood doing nothing. Also, when clicking play with Eek, then clicking on the stomp emote, your character will still be appearing to hold the web, but the web and Eek will disappear. These glitches have now been fixed, as now Play-with Eek is counted as an emote, so when you play with Eek the chat window says "You're already doing an emote!"

Another graphical glitch has been discovered in which a player uses the Home Teleport spell and then immediately plays with Eek, the player will play with Eek, but the spell will still go on, with the book floating in mid-air and the white circle appearing from no where. The player will be teleported if the spell is allowed to go on for the required amount of time without being interrupted.

Blood rune duplication glitch

Template:Fixed This glitch allowed players to take blood runes out of the activity Barbarian Assault and is commonly referred to as "The Blood Rune Dupe", even though it did not involve duplicating blood runes. The smuggled blood runes could then be sold to other players through trade or through the Grand Exchange. There have been multiple occurrences of players performing this glitch using different strategies, and so Jagex finally fixed this bug completely by replacing the blood runes with elemental and catalytic runes in Barbarian Assault during June 2009. Most of the players that abused this glitch were permanently banned.

Bolt duplication glitch

The Bolt duplication glitch was leaked to the wider public on 22 February 2010. This glitch was patched without a system update on the 23rd of February. It enabled players to gain tens of millions of gp per hour by significantly multiplying the amount of dragon bolts during enchanting.

The player used a chisel with a cut gem. When the option was given to cut the gem into bolt tips, the player opened up their mage book and then clicked make-all on the gem. As soon as the player started making bolt tips they clicked enchant bolts on the dragon bolts. The first 10 bolts would be enchanted, and then every 1 bolt after that turned into 12 enchanted bolts.

The glitch could be used to multiply any bolts, but due to the scarcity and value of dragonstone, combined with their frequent use in PvP, dragon bolts were the most widespread kind of bolts that were used while exploiting the glitch.

Jagex made an official statement about this bug on 2 March 2010, in which they said that they banned several high-levelled players, including one with a Total level of 2376 (The highest Level achievable before the release of Dungeoneering) and one with over 1000 days of total playtime. Several fan-site forums reported an increase in ban-risk for all types of offences in the days following the glitch; therefore, it seems Jagex temporarily increased its watchfulness in order to seek out those players who did participate in the glitch.

Disappearing Body Glitch

Template:Fixed On the release of "Balthazar Beauregard's Big Top Bonanza" once wearing the reward clothing received inside the game, players were able to turn their character's body (excluding head, hands and feet) virtually invisible. This was done by having the makeover mage change your character's gender while wearing the clothing you had received. In order to deactivate this glitch, taking off each article of clothing would turn that part visible (ex. taking off the top would in return, turn your torso visible once again). This glitch was fixed within a week after the update.

Amulet Glitch

Sometimes an amulet of power, gold amulet, amulet of magic or amulet of strength would appear as an amulet of defence or accuracy.

Dungeoneering armour glitch

Some players were able to smuggle Dungeoneering items outside of the dungeons and wear them in public places. Many other items have also been smuggled from the Dungeoneering skill, although only a few of the items are usable outside of Daemonheim.

Due to an update, smuggled amour and weapons disintegrate if the player attempts to wield them outside of Daemonheim. Jagex later claimed to have removed all smuggled items, though there are claims that smuggled items still exist outside of Daemonheim.

There were many different smuggling strategies, such as the following:

  1. The player would collect Dungeoneering items
  2. The player would teleport to their POH using House Teleport
  3. As a result, the player would keep the Dungeoneering items

-OR-

  1. The player would summon a Hoardstalker
  2. The player would then exit the dungeon
  3. In the exit room before you climb down, he/she would then wait for the Hoardstalker to forage items.
  4. Items are then carried out of the exit room and down below into the main Daemonheim hall.

However, the items couldn't be traded, and the Dungeoneering coins and Runescape coins wouldn't stack. This was caused because Dungeoneering coins had a different examine. However, players that could take axes, pickaxes, and other items had the ability to use them, though they couldn't wear them because of the aforementioned update.

Several players that did manage to smuggle items out of Daemonheim could train Mining and Woodcutting to gain rapid experience, as promethium items are among the most powerful tools in the game. The items cannot be taken outside anymore, but items that have not yet been removed are still seen.

Camouflage Top Glitch

The Camo-Top glitch

The Camouflage Top glitch occurs when the player wears a polar camo top, wood camo top, Desert Camo top , or Jungle Camo Top. The glitch changes the color of the top into the color of the player's torso. It is unknown when this glitch was released, or whether or not it affects players with an old player torso design. This glitch has yet to be fixed, and goes widely unnoticed. It appears as though the player is wearing Polar camo legs when the top is unequipped, but texture fighting makes it hard to tell.

Greegree and stretching

During the first day of the 2006 Easter holiday event if a player went to Ape Atoll and would equip the greegree and then right-click the Easter ring, a player's character would become stretched-out. The player could still access the agility course, as if they were a monkey.

The glitch was soon fixed, and attempting to use the ring after would result in the message "The ring doesn't seem to fit properly on your monkey finger." This glitch often returns when players equip certain items, causing their bodies to stretch in many directions.

Invisible Waist Glitch

Juggling Glitch

Template:FixedThis glitch allowed players to spin any weapon or item that can be wielded, apart from shields. To activate the glitch, the Candy Cane from the 2009 Christmas event had to be wielded. The player could then right click on it, press F1 to switch to the inventory, and if a weapon or item was beneath the "spin Candy cane" option, the player could double click on it, causing the weapon or item to spin instead of the Candy Cane.

Many weapons spun had graphical glitches when trying to spin them. For example the crystal bow would be held with the bowstring pointing down, but then the string would fly up to the head. To many players' disappointment, this glitch was fixed.

Book of Security Teleportation Glitch

There used to be a glitch that allowed players to "teleport" using the Book of Security that could be purchased from just about every General Store in RuneScape. The glitch was done by quickly pressing somewhere on your minimap (while in Run mode), and then pressing on the Book of Security, allowing players to travel long distances (at the same rate), except without being seen, mimicking a teleport.


Mage Arena Cape Glitch

This glitch allowed players to obtain virtually unlimited numbers of all 3 mage arena god capes. Shortly after the release of an update that allowed players to drop items directly from their bank a player discovered that if the drop option was used on certain items such as god capes or achievement diary rewards they would not be destroyed as they normally would be when dropped. The player would then drop the god capes from their bank in the mage arena cave, run to the statues and obtain whichever cape they wanted to, run back and telegrab the capes that they dropped. This was also used excessively to obtain more than one of the achievement diary rewards.

The glitch spread when several players banking at the mage arena bank noticed a player telegrabing things that they could not see off of the ground and made the connection to the mage arena capes. The glitch was abused rampantly until Jagex removed the feature that allowed players to drop items directly from their bank or inventory completely rendering the glitch impossible a few days later. All duplicated achievement diary rewards were also removed from the game in the same update. The multiple god capes were not removed from the game until the next normal weekly update by making it so that if the player equipped any of the god capes all other god capes would vanish from the game. No players are known to have been banned for abuse of this glitch.

Invisible Item Glitch

This glitch made it so that an item in a player's inventory would become invisible, meaning that a certain item in your inventory couldn't be seen but you could use it normally in every way. This meant that the item would appear as an empty spot in your inventory and you can only notice it if you scroll your mouse over it. This would happen randomly when an item was supposed to appear in your inventory (e.g. when an item was unequipped) and it would seem like the item had suddenly disappeared. This would usually happen on slow servers or after certain updates. The item would regain visibility again after clicking on it or changing the inventory screen. This scared some people into thinking that they had lost one of their items until they realised that it was there all along, which annoyed people who were doing quests at the time.

Examine glitch

If you equipped an item such as a longsword (examine text being A razor sharp long sword.) and then immediately clicked on another item such as a hatchet (examine text being A woodcutter's hatchet.) to wield it, you would be wielding the hatchet and if you examined it while wielding it, it would display the other item's examine text (in this case: A razor sharp long sword.).

Fluffy the Squirrel glitch

Template:Fixed On the first day of the 2010 Easter event (29 March 2010), players exiting the Rabbit's hole would put on their newly acquired squirrel ears and summon their squirrel(s), and found themselves being able to kill the squirrel(s) using Magic or Ranged. If someone tried to re-summon it, however, a message would appear telling you to wait 30 minutes before re-summoning the squirrel(s), the same as when dismissing it/them. This glitch was discovered and abused by many. Jagex did not issue any bans as a result of it, but fixed it the next day.

Monkey Greegree Fairy ring glitch

This glitch stretches the body. It is performed by using any type of monkey greegree after exiting the fairy ring in the Ardougne zoo's unicorn pen. The code is BIS, which brings you into the zoo's unicorn pen. It is a harmless glitch which doesn't effect anyone in any way, including yourself, except for the fact that it stretches your skin. The glitch is stopped by equipping anything in place of the greegree, unequipping the greegree, or by simply logging out.

This glitch also happens at the Ape Atoll Agility Course's Fairy Ring, but you need to have gotten to a certain point in A Fairy Tale Part III, it is performed by using any type of monkey greegree after exiting the fairy ring. In order to go through the Course, you need to unblock the tree tunnel, and then use a Monkey Greegree that turns you into a small ninja monkey.

It has now been fixed by Jagex.

Poison Protection glitch

Template:Fixed This glitch involved dying of poison on a bounty world when you were not automatically skulled, when you appeared at Edgeville you would have all of your items in your inventory. This glitch was fairly unknown and was patched shortly after its discovery.

Item Switching Glitch

A player that attacked with a Dark bow then while attacking, switched his weapon to a Rune crossbow.

This glitch can be performed when you attack with one weapon then quickly switching to different weapon. Then your character will act as if he/she is still using the old weapon. The glitch also works when you perform the weapon's special attack and switch to a different weapon. This glitch does not give the stats of the weapon switched to, to the weapon you attacked with. E.g.: If you attacked with an Oak shortbow then switched to a Crystal bow, the attack will still be as if you were attacking with an Oak shortbow.

Fighter Hat No Neck Glitch

This glitch occurs when your character is a female and is wearing the Fighter hat. Your neck will simply be gone but if you wear any Skillcape your head will float back and forth behind you. The glitch first started happening around the same time as the new face graphical update, and has since been fixed.

Easter cape glitch

A player with the Chockatrice cape could make the egg that was supposed to appear around them appear next to them by operating the Easter cape while walking. The egg would appear next to the player and the player would disappear. When the player got to the breaking out of the egg, they would appear next to the egg and the egg would break open.

Bank item weight glitch

Surely... This doesn't weigh 30kg...

A glitch occurred after Jagex implemented the BOAESU update. If you took out items that weighed a lot, equipped something with the Equipment Screen button from within the bank interface then placing back the heavy items in bank, when you went back to look at your Equipment Bonuses, the weight shown will be wrong until you equipped/unequipped something.

Floating pickaxe glitch

This glitch occurs when you drop a pickaxe and an item at the end of Gnome Stronghold agility course log balance obstacle. They float in the air.

This also happened a few times at the Fishing Guild, when someone received a mithril pickaxe from an impling, they dropped it and it ended up floating where they dropped it. It worked multiple times when different players picked up the pickaxe and dropped it again.

Cyclopean Helmet glitch

Template:Fixed Shortly after the Cyclopean Helmet was released, a glitch appeared where if a player used an emote or spirit tree while wearing the helmet their neck would appear to stretch. Also if a player were to "rest" with the helmet on, A large "Horn" would appear to be coming out of the players head. This glitch would sometimes happen when doing other activities such as hunting or fishing. It was fixed as of 9 January 2011.

Dragon Platebody & Monkeyspeak Amulet glitch

Template:Fixed When a M'speak amulet is equipped with a Dragon Platebody on a female character, there appears to be a glitch where the shoulders of the Dragon Platebody will become tall spikes on the shoulders of the character. This does not affect male players.

Agility Arena blade trap glitch

Template:Fixed There was a glitch which caused the player to float in mid air whilst attempting to cross the blade trap in the Brimhaven Agility Arena. It was a minor glitch caused by attempting to cross the trap whilst lagging.

Death Hat Statue Glitch

Template:Fixed After the death hats update, if you had the Wildstalker helmet or the Duellist's Cap with any teleport jewellery, you could transform into the statue (With tier 2+ of either of the hats) and then rapidly right-click the jewellery, causing the teleport menu to open over the 'Unmorph' screen. When you teleported, either a blue, angular statue (wildstalker) or an oval shadow (duellist) would be left in your previous position. You could then behold your own statue. It had all the featues of the original statue, except that you could create multiple copies of "yourself", which led to major spamming in places like the Grand Exchange.Template:Checkftw

Clan Cape Glitch

Template:Fixed When you are wearing a clan cape and choose to rest, parts of the cape stretch from its original position to the new position.

Elemental gloves and boots glitch

When you wear any type of elemental boots (elemental boots, mind boots, body boots, cosmic boots, chaos boots), they will stick out of any type of mage robe bottom. This has not been tested with the other elemental boots except the chaos boots and mind / elemental Boots. Also, when wearing Avalani's robe top, the chaos gloves also stick out of the robe sleeves. This may work with any other type of elemental gloves, or any other type of robe top with baggy sleeves. Ex. Dagon'hai robe top

Blood'n'tar Snelm Glitch

Template:Fixed After the update on 17 August 2011, players wearing a Blood'n'tar snelm found that their head would stretch when they rested or bent over, i.e. to bury bones or skin snakes.

Dungeoneering Summoning Creatures Glitch

There is a current glitch where Summoning Creatures can be taken out of Daemonheim. This glitch has yet to be fixed.

Hand Cannon Glitch

Template:Fixed On 12 September 2009 a bug was discovered with the hand cannon special attack that enabled multiple users to simultaneously attack a single target in a single-combat zone, but this was fixed 13 September 2009.

Quest Cape and Ring of Kinship Glitch

There is currently a glitch that happens when a player uses the skillcape emote (verified with the Quest Cape, unknown with the others) then quickly using the teleport option on the Ring of Kinship while standing next to the rewards trader in Daemonheim, when the emote ends, it will look like the player has "blinked" to the teleportation arrival place.

Dominion Aura Glitch

When playing the Dominion Tower activity, with the Slippery Fingers handicap on and an aura equipped.

When the handicap activated, the weapon would be unequipped, however the outline of the aura would not disappear. This was patched on 6 December 2011, but can still happen with weapons given in the arena such as silverlight and the ancient mace.

Super dominion medallion boosts removal glitch

On 6 December 2011, a bug with the super dominion medallion was discovered. Players who boost a combat skill and then unequipped the super dominion medallion will find that the medallion cancels their boosts. This behaviour applies even outside the Dominion Tower, but does not affect non-combat boosts. This glitch is not yet fixed.

Ring of wealth glitch

Template:Fixed On 15 March 2011, an update to the Ring of Wealth introduced new teleport abilities for the ring. Within a half hour of the update players discovered that while in lootshare the effects of the ring of wealth stacked. This allowed players to obtain extremely rare items consistently. This flood of rare items including godsword hilts caused the price of godswords to crash. Players were able to get rares such as sigils as a 100% drop from the Corporeal Beast. The day after the glitch, Mod Mark personally apologized for what happened. No one was banned for using this bug, as players were not aware that this was not intended to happen, since the update promised an increased chance of receiving rare drops. Luckily, there was not enough time for the majority of players to discover this glitch and abuse it.

Penguin Outfit Glitch

Template:Fixed In 2009 there was a glitch where players could turn into a penguin at the Penguin Agility Course but then teleport out and remain as a penguin. Players would slide around as a penguin but if you tried to do an emote the player would turn into a "knotty" mess.

Silverlight / Darklight aura glitch

When having an aura activated and fighting Delrith or Agrith-Naar in Dominion Tower, the Silverlight will disappear after the fight. With an aura equipped, a blade's shape will remain with the aura runes on it.

Mindspike Glitch

Template:Fixed On 10 February 2012, a glitch involving the use of a Mindspike staff allowing any player wielding one to kill any NPC with it. The NPCs would always drop bones. The glitch occurred after the Burthorpe graphical update, but was first discovered on 10 February, and hotfixed less than an hour after its discovery.

This glitch was widely used in pranks by players to kill other players' pet cats. This would cause a player to lose their cat on death, meaning they would have to get another kitten and raise it back to 100% growth. However, it would not cause other pets to die; they would simply spawn bones on the ground and not vanish. The glitch worked by clicking the special attack bar and then casting any combat spell on an NPC that was previously unattackable. Bankers, familiars, and random event NPC's could all then be attacked in this fashion. Due to this glitch, it was discovered that most non-combat NPC's have 1 life point. This glitch was also used to temporarily break bots, by killing the Dungeoneering banker.

A few non-combat NPCs, like cats, would attack back using this glitch. This is likely because cats are able to fight in the Ratcatchers quest, so have an amount of life points set by Jagex.



6 March 2012 glitches

The black chainbody glitch.

On this day, many pieces of armour are graphically updated, causing numerous glitches, including the following.

The black chainbody caused the player's entire torso to disappear.

The Void mage helm was invisible to its owner when worn, and items unequipped while wearing it would appear to still be worn or wielded. This allowed the player to be able to see a duplicate of any equippable item. The duplicates would disappear once the helm was unequipped.

The Rune helm (h1) was unable to be equipped.



Dragonfire shield glitch

If getting the water power in the Filliman Tarlock Temple Trekking event. The color of the fire in the middle of the dragonfire shield remains blue once the event is finished.

Air Guitar Glitch

As of March 27 2012 items being wielded can be seen while preforming the air guitar emote. This glitch is still active.
