The gloves of silence are a member's only reward from the Hunter skill. To wear gloves of silence the player needs at least 54 Hunter. When worn they improve the success rate of pickpocketing, part of the Thieving skill.

Gloves of silence are damaged when players are caught pickpocketing and destroyed after around 60 failures. At crafting level 64, players can repair their gloves of silence with one dark kebbit fur, a needle, a thread and a knife by using the fur on the gloves.

The gloves can be in six conditions, much like barrows armour:

  • "Your gloves are new." They degrade after 1 failure.
  • "Your gloves are in good condition." They degrade after 30 failures.
  • 'Your gloves are starting to look quite shabby." They degrade after 17 failures.
  • "Your gloves are starting to need repair." They degrade after 10 failures.
  • "Your gloves are in need of repair." They degrade after 3 failures.
  • "Your gloves are about to fall apart." They are destroyed after one more failure.

(note: You must "operate" them to get these messages if equipped)

If a player has multiple gloves of silence, when checked, they will all display the same status. However, when the current pair of gloves used does fall apart then all remaining pairs are reset to then new condition. Also, like Rings of forging the conditions of the gloves are only relevant to each player and not the gloves themselves.

To make gloves of silence, bring two dark kebbit fur from Falconry hunting zone, and 600 coins to the Fancy Dress Shop in south-east Varrock.
