Gloves of silence are members-only gloves from the Hunter skill. To make a pair of gloves of silence, players must bring two (unnoted) Dark kebbit furs from the Falconry hunting zone (Level 57 Hunter) and 600 coins to the Fancy Dress Shop in south-east Varrock. To wear the gloves of silence, players need at least level 54 Hunter. When worn, they increase the success rate of pickpocketing by 5%, which is part of the Thieving skill.

Gloves of silence are damaged when players are caught pickpocketing and destroyed after 62 failures from when they are new. When blackjacking, Gloves of silence used to wear out after each action, successful or not. This does not seem to be the case anymore.
Players can check the condition by right-clicking the gloves and selecting "Check". When the gloves are close to being destroyed, players will be warned in their chatbox that "Your gloves of silence are going to fall apart!" (when you get this warning your gloves will be destroyed on the next failure; unlike when you get this warning via checking). Players can repair their Gloves of silence to new at any time with one Dark kebbit fur, a needle, a thread and a knife by clicking on the fur and then on the gloves. Doing so requires 64 Crafting, and gives no experience. The Assist System may be used. One reel of thread is used up every time the gloves are repaired.

The condition of the gloves are connected to the player and not the gloves themselves. If a player has multiple gloves of silence, when checked, they will all display the same status. When the current pair of gloves falls apart, then any other pair that remains will display the new condition. In this way, they behave the same as ring of recoil and ring of forging.
