Glowing Ember is one of the four new pets released in the quest The Firemaker's Curse on 11 January. You can get this pet by entering the Training cave available after the quest.

Note: This pet does not become hungry, and, if released, will respawn in the Training cave.
Currently, keeping more than one of the quest reward pets in your menagerie will trigger a glitch. Pets withdrawn from the menagerie will run away if you drop them. This is currently being fixed: Runescape Forums Link
This pet (alongside with other three firemaking pets) is the first pet that requires Firemaking instead of Summoning.
