Gnomeballs are received by winning 5 points in a game of Gnome Ball (ask the referee for a ball, walk out the arena, and the gnomeball will appear in your inventory), or from the Gnome restaurant activity. With the item in their inventory, the player can click "Use" with it, and click another player. If the player has both of their hands empty, they will catch the ball, and it will end up in their weapon slot. It is not advised that it is thrown to a random unknown player, as they could very easily walk away with it.
It should also be noted that this item can help in reporting users suspected of macroing. By throwing a gnomeball at a player suspected of being a macro, there is a chance to mess up its programming and halt them, thus revealing whether or not they are macroing. However, this may not work against some programs i.e some Hunter bots. They may simply continue to hunt with the gnomeball wielded. This also does not work against gold farmers, as they are controlled by humans.

Selling a gnomeball
Gnomeballs are tradeable, it is possible to sell one using the trade screen. But if a player wants to buy it through catching it, the buyer should give the number of coins the seller asks for, and then the seller should throw the gnomeball to the buyer. Alternatively, the seller could throw it first and then the buyer should pay for it at the pre-agreed price. Be warned of this "trust trading", which is commonly used to scam people. Therefore it is not recommended to buy or sell gnomeballs using this method.
Glitches
- There is a glitch where the gnomeball stretches a small portion of a player's leg while running or walking.
Trivia
- Winning multiple games in a row will not result in more than one gnomeball as a reward.
- If a player tries to enter the arena with a gnomeball in their inventory, it will be remove from their inventory with the message, "The ref takes your ball for safe keeping. You will get it back when you leave." A player may earn as many gnomeballs as they like, but they must bank them first. Be careful not to enter the arena with more than one gnomeball since only one gnomeball will be returned to you when you leave.
- You cannot bank a gnomeball with an imp-in-a-box, not even outside the Gnomeball Arena, the imp will refuse stating that the game is too violent and it'll be killed.
- A player may not wield anything other while inside the arena, any attempt to do so will result in the message, "You feel it would be cheating to hold anything other than a gnombeball on the gnomeball pitch."
- If timed well, throwing a gnomeball at a player trying to teleport will yield the message "[Player's name] does not want you to throw gnomeballs at him/her whilst he/she is trying to teleport".
