Golden tools could be won on Treasure Hunter during the Heart of Gielinor: Encampment event and used there for more experience than the basic tools. At level 99 in the respective skill the experience gained is 25 times the experience gained with basic tools.

After the event the basic tools could be handed it at Ajjat for 250 experience each in either Attack, Mining, Strength, Defence, Ranged, Prayer, Magic, Farming, Construction, Hunter or Summoning. Handing in the tools also automatically used all the other tools owned by the player, including basic and banked tools.
