The Gorgonite kiteshield (Tier 9) is an item that can only be obtained and used while Dungeoneering. It requires level 80 Defence to wear. It may be picked up from the table at the beginning of a dungeon, obtained as a monster drop, or produced using the Smithing skill.

It can be produced by using 3 Gorgonite bars with a hammer on an anvil, requiring level 86 Smithing and granting 255 Smithing experience.

This item is less commonly produced by smithing than other pieces of equipment are, as many melee fighters will prefer to use two-handed weapons such as the Gorgonite spear and Gorgonite maul, and these weapons can not be wielded with a shield. Also, players with exactly 3 gorgonite bars to use for gaining Smithing experience will generally prefer to produce Gorgonite platelegs instead, as they give more experience per bar than the kiteshield.
