Grug is an injured ogre sitting outside the entrance to Jiggig. He and Pilg were fending off the Zogres and Skogres before being injured and infected with a terrible disease. His sickness has robbed him of all feeling in his legs and left him heaving near the entrance to Jiggig. As his examine text implies, it's unlikely he'll recover, but he's not dead as of yet.
