A hasta is a type of one-handed melee weapon similar to their two-handed brethren, spears. Hastae can be obtained either by trading with another player or using the Smithing skill upon completion of Barbarian Training on a specific barbarian anvil.

Hastae are rarely used because of the difficulty of obtaining them, as well as being nearly identical to shortswords, which are much easier to obtain.

Trivia

Hasta means lance or spear in Latin.
Before the Evolution of Combat, hastae used to give negative defensive bonuses to compensate for being one-handed.
Hastae have an indirect skill requirement of 55 Fishing due to the required completion of barbarian fishing techniques.
Hastae could previously only be traded between players, and not on the Grand Exchange.
