The hermit crab is a pet that may rarely be caught while either fishing crystal urchins during Prifddinas Waterfall Fishing, or fishing Wobbegong on the Uncharted Isles. It goes straight to the inventory when caught, and catching it is signified by the chat message: "You find a hermit crab!" Like most pets, it may be stored in the Menagerie. While they will not run away when starved, they can optionally be fed with any type of raw fish.

Shells

Unlike most pets, the hermit crab may be customised to a degree by giving it various different items to use as a shell. Different shells may be bought using crystal urchin points at Mhistyll's Prifddinas Waterfall Fishing Shop, including:

• Hermit crab shell - 750 points
• Hermit crab nautilus - 750 points
• Hermit crab coral - 1,500 points
• Hermit crab chest - 3,000 points
• Hermit crab boot - 15,000 points

Trivia

• There was a bug where if the hermit crab was obtained, the player would be unable to obtain the dark mind, body and soul parts to create the Penny pet. This was fixed on 21 March 2016.
