Imps are one of the smallest and weakest creatures in RuneScape, they also are widely regarded by most players as "baby demons" as they are very miniature lesser/greater demons in looks. They are central to the Imp Catcher quest, having been summoned by Wizard Grayzag to hide 4 different colours of beads, all of which must be collected for that quest. Though a miniature demon, they are NOT affected by the powers of Silverlight and Darklight. Holy Water is also ineffective. An imp may defend itself from a player's attack by disappearing in a puff of smoke and teleporting to a random nearby place. If the player has autoretaliate on and can reach the spot where the imp teleported, the player immediately goes to the imp to continue the fight. Imps occasionally teleport even when not under attack. An imp, upon receiving damage, may also retreat from the player but not teleport.
The level 7 imps are found in the God wars dungeon. These are not aggressive to players who have a Zamorak item equipped. These imps have a slightly different appearance than the regular imps, as they sport goatees. Imps can be helpful to players who wish to get fast kill count as they have low Defence and Hitpoints. Imps are loyal to Zamorak.
Imps are one of the 'races' who have lesser champions in the Champions' Challenge minigame. To fight the imp champion, the player must kill imps until one drops a Champion scroll, which is a very rare drop.
Many players consider the imp champion scroll to be one of the hard champion scrolls to obtain, as no large clusters of imps can be found to attack, unlike all the other races that drop champion scroll. Also, most areas where 4-5 imps can be found are wooded, making it difficult to rapidly target the imps in succession.
Once the scroll is obtained, however, the fight with the Imp Champion is considered the easiest champion match by most players, because this champion has the lowest hitpoints of all the champions.
Imps sometimes teleport into banks, onto islands, and even inside some of the walls of Falador, where they can not be attacked.

In the older days of Runescape, imps were gnomes in imp suits. In RuneScape Classic, imps looked just like very small versions of lesser and greater demons.
Imps were formerly believed to be the weakest form of demon, but, according to Evil Dave, the Hellrats in his basement are the weakest.
There is an imp pacing around on a stool behind Mr. Mordaut in the Surprise Exam! random event, he wears a white conical paper hat. In real life, someone with a white, cone shaped hat in a classroom is known as a dunce. If you examine the "Dunce" a message will appear saying "This imp is clearly the class clown."
If a player talked to the imp captured in the magic box, the imp's mug shot would resemble its old version instead of the new one and the artwork suggested. This was since updated.
There is a chance that the Thingummywuts are imps due to the fact that the Thingummywuts are said to cause trouble in the wizard's tower, and Grayzag summons imps to cause trouble in the wizards tower and all over RuneScape.
Other than K'ril Tsutsaroth, Imps are one of the very few demons to attack with a weapon.

A good method to obtain a Champion scroll would be to kill the Imps which spawn around karamja volcano with a ranged weapon as they are most commonly found and spawn around there.
