Insects of the Desert is an activity in Menaphos that can be started by talking to Assistant Librarian Subotai in the Merchant district. For finding all insects listed in the Menaphos journal the player is awarded the Bug Whisperer Teleport animation.

Pygmy giant scarab Pygmy giant scarab Found whilst hunting Plover birds. These scarabs seem to gather on the surface, rather than living in the tombs below Sophanem. Or is it a giant pygmy scarab?
Clicker kalphite Clicker kalphite Found whilst hunting Plover birds. Plover birds love eating these.
Desert locust Desert locust Found while woodcutting in the VIP area. They are a blight on the few trees found in the desert. They are rumoured to devour anything left out in the desert sun.
Kalphite wanderer Kalphite wanderer Found while woodcutting in the VIP area. They make their homes burrowing underneath the roots of trees. Outside of hive structure, these types of kalphite have regressed to minute sizes.
Hornless unicornfly Hornless unicornfly Found while woodcutting in the VIP area. (Can be obtained using crystalise.) Found fairly rarely, but sometimes they infest lone acadia trees. Unlike a regular unicornfly, this type is not attracted to rainbows.
Fly dragon Fly dragon Found while harvesting Luminous memories. Hardly anyone alive remembers that these exist.
Fruit fly Fruit fly Found while harvesting Luminous memories. These insects reside in the memories of the desert. Much tastier than a vegetable fly.
