Revision as of 15:17, 18 September 2017
Inspiration was a mechanic of the Invention skill. Inspiration was used to unlock blueprints of equipment and upgrades in the skill. How optimised the blueprint was during the research process determined how much inspiration was used, with poorly optimised blueprints consuming the most (up to 220% of minimum) and perfectly optimised blueprints consuming the least.
Inspiration was removed in an update on 18 September 2017 as part of a full rework of the Invention skill.[1]
Mechanics
Inspiration could be earned by:
- Advancing an Invention level
- Earning experience in any skill (including Invention); a limited amount of inspiration could be earned this way on each level (resets each time an Invention level is advanced and is equal to 50% of the current level's initial inspiration gains)
- Dismantling a level 10 or higher augmented item
- The Inspiration cap every level affects both the inspiration gained by training any skills and the inspiration gained from dismantling a level 10 weapon/armour.
The total pool of inspiration earned for every level was fixed at the total needed to research everything. If levels were skipped (as they often were at low levels due to the large amount of experience granted by dismantling levelled-up augmented items), the earnable inspiration at those levels was not lost, but instead could be earned later. If a project was researched without perfect optimisation, the excess inspiration used was returned to the pool to be earned again later. If new research projects were released, the pool size was increased and the additional inspiration could be earned by all, even those that had previously earned all available inspiration.[2]
Players could check the amount of inspiration they had by:
- Clicking "Check inspiration" on the Invention pouch in the Inventory interface, next to the bond pouch
- Mousing over the Invention pouch
- Clicking Inventor's Tools on the tool belt
- Saying the quick chat phrase "I have <amount> inspiration."
