The iron hatchet is the second weakest hatchet, slightly better than the bronze hatchet. It can be used in combat or in Woodcutting to cut trees. An Attack level of 10 is necessary for wielding it, while a Woodcutting level of 6 is required to cut trees with. Players can make an iron hatchet with the Smithing skill at level 16 using 1 iron bar, giving the player 25 Smithing experience.
Players can purchase this hatchet from Bob's Brilliant Axes in Lumbridge.
This hatchet respawns in many places, including the Varrock Sewers.
As of 17 June 2013, this hatchet can be stored on a toolbelt.

- Sometimes when you search "iron hatchet" on the Grand Exchange, there appears to be 2 options, but one of them is more expensive.
- Before the Evolution of Combat, the iron hatchet was superior to the bronze hatchet at level 1 Woodcutting, although the update bolstered the former's level requirement to 6.
