Jug of wine detail

The jug of wine is a food item made by using grapes with a jug of water. It requires level 35 Cooking to make, and gives the player 201 Cooking experience (1 for adding grapes; 200 for fermenting). Squeezing grapes into a jug of water will make unfermented wine, which after ten seconds of fermenting, will become either a jug of wine or a jug of bad wine. A cooking urn will not be filled when creating jugs of wine.

A jug of wine heals 875 life points (or 25% of your life points if Constitution is below level 35) and lowers Attack by 2. Due to its low cost, it is relatively good value because of its high life point restoration.

Wine is excellent for training during Agility or when encountering ghasts, due to Agility training being unaffected by combat stats and wine's immunity to ghast food-spoiling effects. Wine is also useful for rangers and mages, due to its cheap cost and availability. Warriors may also use wine for healing, as long they make sure to restore their Attack stat (by, for example, drinking a restore potion).

Wine is a quick and easy way to gain Cooking experience. The process is even faster if the player can enter the Cooking Guild as it has a water source, a jug, and grape respawns. Another fast method is to obtain the grapes by killing guards which can be found all over RuneScape.

Making jugs of wine can easily net around 800k xp an hour, assuming all items are bought from the Grand Exchange and optimal usage of presets.

Currently the cost of training using this method is 23.84 per experience.

There is a jug of wine spawn in Catherby in the middle building northeast of Harry's Fishing Shop. Alternately they can be stolen from wine stalls in Draynor and Burthorpe, or bought from various locations.

Trivia[]

  • A jug of wine used to be 2-sip consumable, which, after only one swig, would create a half full wine jug. The jugs were changed so that half full wine jugs could no longer be created, resulting in them becoming an extremely valuable rare item.
  • Wine is unaffected by ghasts in Morytania. This is likely due to the fact that wine is fermented, and thus already "rotten".
  • Previously, unlike most foods, jugs of wine would not drain adrenaline when consumed, but this was later changed and they will now drain adrenaline as normal.
  • In the Brazilian-Portuguese translation of RuneScape, wine received the name "grape juice". Indeed, no mentions towards wine are present in the entire translated game's dialogue. Most if not all other alcoholic beverages were also renamed to non-alcoholic drinks.
