The keg contains gunpowder and is used during The Great Brain Robbery. It is specifically used to blow your way into a barricaded building by blowing up the door. It is possible to have multiple kegs.
Four kegs spawn on the upper level of the zombie pirate's ship on Harmony Island, but they cannot be picked up, prompting the message "You do not need one of those at the moment."
For every keg you have in your inventory, standing on a fire may deal up to 400 life points.
