The Keris is a dagger obtained after defeating the Giant Scarab at the end of the Contact! quest.
If lost, another can be bought from Osman for 20,000 coins.
Keris was created by worshipers of Elidinis in order to smite the followers of Scabaras. Like the dragon dagger it is held upside down. It has a special bonus against scarab creatures (Scarab mage and Locust riders) and kalphites (see Kalphite Lair); on rare occasions it may score a "vicious blow" against an opponent, tripling the damage the player would have done. When this happens the player will receive a message in the chat box that reads: "You slip your dagger through a chink in the creature's chitin, landing a vicious blow." Keris can also be tipped with poison.
In addition to the potential to score critical hits, Keris provides a constant, massive bonus modifier to attack and strength of 50% when used against Kalphites, Scarabs and Locusts - similar to a Black mask on Slayer tasks or Salve amulet against Undead. This dagger is one of the strongest weapons in RuneScape when used against the above listed creatures, hitting up to 117 damage (with 99 strength, a black mask with a slayer assignment of Kalphites and the highest strength bonus possible in the game save the dagger and mask). It is because of this that Keris is often considered one of the best daggers in RuneScape, along with the dragon dagger super poisoned.
When poisoned with Weapon poison, the destroy message changes.
