The kitten appears throughout the quest Pieces of Hate. It consistently appears nearby in locations while the player is progressing through the quest, and when spoken to, it gives small bits of cryptic dialogue. Players do not need to wear a catspeak amulet to understand or respond to it. It is implied by Madame Shih's dialogue at the end of the quest that only the player can see this kitten.
Talking to the kitten at the temple entrance before the fight against Rabid Jack will give the option to turn off effects in the boss fight than can be hazardous to players with epilepsy or other vision problems.
Its examine texts refer to Xau-Tak's threats against the player.
