Looting is an Invention perk that has a chance of adding an additional item to a monster's drop pile when it dies. This perk only works on monsters that give combat experience when killed. The perk has a 5 minute cooldown and is unaffected by any drop modifiers, such as Slayer masks. It can be created in weapon and armour gizmos.

When the perk triggers, one of the following messages appears in Chat:

  • Your Looting perk adds a raw cavefish.
  • Your Looting perk adds a raw rocktail.
  • Your Looting perk adds adamantite ore.
  • Your Looting perk adds magic logs.
  • Your Looting perk adds runite ore.

The average value of loot obtained via the looting perk is 20,441 coins per hour; a maximum of 17,028 coins an hour if only runite ores are obtained, or a minimum of 4,560 coins an hour if only magic logs are obtained.

As augmenting a tier 70 two-handed, main-handed, or off-handed weapon with the looting perk would cost players an average of 271,537 coins, 181,025 coins, and 90,512 coins an hour to operate respectively, it is suggested to not augment a weapon with looting if the player is only interested in generating additional profits.
