Members Loyalty Programme

The Members Loyalty Programme was released on 28 June 2011. It was first announced in the Behind the Scenes of June 2011. Loyalty Points are an additional reward for being a Member of RuneScape. Players with pending or existing subscriptions will receive Loyalty Points for their remaining days of membership, but will not earn these points for the days before the actual update. On the release date of the Loyalty Programme, players were given a discount on most items in the rewards shop for a limited amount of time.

Loyalty Points can be spent on a various range of rewards, including emotes, costumes, and items for the Aura slot. All rewards are simply cosmetic, with the exception of the auras, which enhance gameplay in many different aspects and the wicked pouch, which can store rune energy and affect the use of the Magic skill. Concurrent members accumulate points at a higher rate than the players who only subscribe occasionally, so that the very loyal players can earn their rewards faster. Items, emotes, costumes, colour changes and titles can be bought from Xuan east of the Warriors' Guild in Burthorpe or in Varrock Square.

Loyalty Points accrue more quickly the longer a player has membership. For the first month, players receive 500 points. The next month, they will get 3,000, then 5,000 the next, followed by 7,000. From there it increases by 1,000 per month, to finally, after a year's continuous subscription, stop at 15,000 points per month. There is a 7 day grace period in which to continue to subscribe, at which point the number of points per month will drop down to the amount from two months ago (e.g. if a player subscribes for 6 months and then waits 10 days to resubscribe, they would get points for the seventh month). If players do not re-subscribe after 30 days, they will drop down to 500 points for the month they next subscribe.

In 2011, there was a 12 Days of Christmas event between 25 December 2011 and 5 January 2012, wherein players were able to earn 500 points on each day that they logged into a members world (if signed up to the Loyalty Programme), for a total of 6,000 points if they logged in on each of the twelve days.

The shop was updated on 3 September 2013 and merged with Solomon's General Store, allowing some items from both stores to be purchased with each others' currency. The gazes and clothing were changed into cosmetic skin overrides. The only items that could be purchased from Xuan were auras and colour changes.

The shop was updated again on 29 March 2016, with plans to make items cost only RuneCoins or only Loyalty points rather than both starting from 3 May 2016.

The total points earned is without counting the bonus points that are given during events.

After the first 12 months, you will receive 15,000 bonus points a month. Every 6 months, this is increased to 20,000 before returning to the normal bonus of 15,000.

Auras

Main article: Auras

Auras improve gameplay in many different ways, including effects with Combat, Fishing, and Agility. Other auras serve no practical purpose. They all have a particle effect that glows when the aura is active. This particle effect does not show on a free-to-play server. They are equipped in the aura slot, and are activated by clicking Activate aura. All of them have an activation time, which shows how long they last, and a cooldown time, which shows how long it takes to be used again. This is clock time and still counts down even if you log out. If they are lost, they can be replaced by Xuan. Only one aura can be used at once.

Many auras designed for use in Combat cannot be used in PvP combat, only in PvM.

If you un-equip the Aura, you cannot use it again until it is recharged.

All auras that were released with the first update except for Jack of trades had a reduced price for the first two weeks, when the original price was decreased to 400 loyalty points.

In order to purchase a higher tier aura, all lower tier versions of that aura must be bought in order first.

Cosmetic auras

Unlike other auras, cosmetic auras, only affect the appearance of a player. There is also no activation or cooldown time.

The eight gaze auras that can be bought from Solomon's General Store make a character's eyes glow with various colours.

Emotes

There are thirty emotes that can be bought from Xuan and used in the same way that all other emotes are used. They give no benefits. All these emotes together cost 138750 points.

The emotes Cat Fight, Talk to the Hand, Shake Hands and High Five had a reduced price for the first two weeks, where the original prices were decreased to 100 points for Cat Fight, and 400 points for Talk to the Hand, Shake Hands and High Five. all the emotes cost a total of 138,750 points

Outfits

There are twelve outfits that can be bought from Xuan, costing 1,000, 2,000, 4,000 or 8,000 points. All parts of the outfit are bought at once. Only the Dervish Outfit originally provided benefits - it protected from desert heat. The colours can be changed in the Customisation interface. All the outfits together cost 44,000 points.

For the first two weeks after the release, the prices for the outfits were decreased. The dervish outfit's price was reduced to 100 points, and the other outfits cost 400 points.

Before 3 September 2013, these outfits were actual items. However on that day, all the outfits were turned into cosmetic overrides.

Titles

Titles appear before your username in the chat box on both members and free worlds. With the exception of The Awesome, Magnificent, Undefeatable, Strange, Divine and Fallen, which all appear after the character's display name. Neither word in the title begins with a capital letter.

For the first two weeks, the price for the Sir/Dame title was reduced to 100 points, and the prices for the Lord/Lady, Duderino/Dudette and Lionheart title were reduced to 400 points. There are 16 different titles, 8 of which depend on the player's gender. Titles can be changed by talking to Xuan, and after one title has been bought it can be changed and used again for no extra charge. They may also be changed via the Customisation Interface.

Colour changes

Various Items can have their colours changed by using them on Xuan. There are four new colours for each item. Once coloured, an item cannot be traded to other players until it is changed back to its original colour by talking to Xuan. (The Full slayer helmet can be disassembled and put back together restoring it back to its normal colour.)

For the first two weeks after release, the pet rock's colour change was 100 points and the robin hood hat's colour change was 400 points.

• The next time users log in after they have registered to the Members Loyalty Programme, a box is displayed, asking the players if they would like to view the shop, giving the option of being teleported to the shop in Burthorpe or Varrock centre.
• On 6 September 2011, the mercenary leader, mercenary mage, mercenary ranger, and mercenary warrior were placed in north of Falador wearing items from the loyalty programme.
• It will take 3,168,750 points to unlock everything in the shop assuming rewards aren't purchased when they are discounted. • The title Duderino could be a reference to the movie "The Big Lebowski", in which Jeff Bridges' character, Jeff Lebowski AKA The Dude, lists various things to call him, relating to the word "dude", including "duderino". It could also be a reference to the Simpsons. The character Ned Flanders says words that end in "idly" doodly" "rino" etc.
