Old Boot Edit

An Old boot is an entirely useless item that can not be traded and does not have a purpose.

I don't want to be a nit-picker, nor a nitwit, but I believe you may have been redundant here. An item that is "useless" by definition has no purpose. Also, I'm not sure how something can be "entirely useless", since it should either be "useless" or "have a use". Would you think about this and let me know your ideas on it? Thanks Hatchenator 15:51, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

The sentence could be shortened to "An Old boot is a useless item." since in "useless" it implies its impossibility to be used (even in trading). So you could go extremely non-descriptive if you wanted. Dsctatom 16:58, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your thoughts, I went with "An Old boot is an entirely useless item that can not be traded." I know it's silly to fixate on trivial matters, particularly concerning a useless item! But, that's me, warts and all. I wanted your thoughts before I stepped on your work. I saw from the history how much content you had added here. Hatchenator 17:22, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Re:Strength levelEdit

Its very simple to edit articles here on the RuneScape wiki. if you want to add or change information in an article, simply press the tab that says Edit this page with a pencil next to it. This will show the article in its original wiki-markup form. you can then just type as usual, and your changes will appear on the page you where editing after you hit Save at the bottom. Note that it is usually a good idea to use the Preview button to proofread your work before saving your changes. If you need any clarification, feel free to leave me another message or visit the Help:Editing page! I changed the minimum strength level to 59 for you!

--Rollback crownAburnett001 {Talk} {#} 16:54, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Edit: I see where your confusion came from- the minimum strength level is part of a data template (Template:Hiscores lowest rank), therefore the template itself had to be updated, not the page itself. If you need to update something like this in the future, but find that it is enclosed with {{ }}, there is a template at work, and the template itself must be changed. --Rollback crownAburnett001 {Talk} {#} 17:01, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

RE: Users with a 99 skill Edit

The same way you would with any category. "[[Category:Users with a level 99 skill]]" would categorize the page by its title. For the case of userpages, it would be under U, because of the "User" namespace. By adding "|Chiafriend12" to the end of the caegory tag, it gets registered under C. RE: Vandal Edit

Thanks for reporting. I won't block the vandal - in my opinion, the edits only need a three day block, and the only edits made were well over 3 days ago (9th Oct). But thanks anyway Smile Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 20:33, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

Dung Bug Edit

Yes, that was meant for the unfixed section, but I accidentially put it in the fixed. I also put a picture of the minimap showing the problem. if you could move that as well that would be nice. 03:53, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

Dragon dagger Edit

We're sure that it is a drop from the Mithril dragon because of logs gotten from players killing them without a ring of wealth. There is also a dragon dagger on the drop table, so it can lead to confusion regarding which drops what, but getting a ring of wealth and killing mithril dragons really gives you 2x the chance of getting one, in a sense. But yes, it is a drop from both Mithril dragons and the rare drop table themselves. Hope I helped. :3 Adam SavageSpeech cursor 15:32, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

Exchange PagesEdit

When you update exchange pages, you need to update *every* part. The new price, the previous price, and the time stamps.

Re:Abyssal demonsEdit

Quite apart from the grammar ("more rare" is not in any way correct English; "much rarer" or just "rarer" would be better), you can't assume that every editor knows your sources on these things. Link to them in edit summaries, or in references or something (although you can't put a ref inside a ref, I know; maybe a trivia note about the relative drop rates?), instead of putting unsupported statements onto pages. Even on my talk page, you've quoted without even putting one link to back it up. Small recharge gem AnselaJonla Slayer-icon 19:38, February 11, 2014 (UTC)

Treasure trail imagesEdit

Hey there, thanks for adding treasure trail location images. However, there are some issues with your pictures. They need to meet the following requirements:

  • Character should have no items equipped and be wearing only basic clothing.
  • Character should be standing on the exact spot that the arrow points to.
  • Images should contain both the in-game and minimap arrow (the arrow blinks in-game so you should check that it was displaying at the time you captured your image).
  • Images should have a minimap in the corner (make sure the minimap is loaded properly, if it is cut off move towards the cut off area in-game to make the minimap load before taking the image).
  • Images should not contain any other interfaces such as the action bar or inventory; only the minimap.
  • Images should be cropped to approximately 860 pixels wide and 540 pixels tall (if you're not sure how to crop to this size then uploading an uncropped image is fine).

Hopefully you'll be able to take these points into account. Dragon dagger AmoVos 08:41, May 29, 2014 (UTC)

It's been hit by the wikia upload bug, so it's only going to show the untransed version until that resolves itself. I am not fully certain. But my source states: "Alchemist Amulet fragment", Please note however that the source contains minor inaccuracies in the names generally, but based on this it would still b the alchemist fragment.

RE: QuestProjectEdit

I was fixing that, haven't had the time yet to fix the last 5 subquests. And yes, all subquests should have their own category, instead of stuffing the RfD cat. The other 5 subquests already got their own cat. And making it RfD:subquest instead of RfD/subquest is better. I did the same to Dimension of Disaster months ago. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 23:40, December 15, 2015 (UTC)

Fixed! :) Were there any other redlinks on the page besides RfD? Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 11:14, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
But Recipe for Disaster isn't mentioned on the QuestProject page anymore. *Goes off to check the categories* Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 20:09, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
So I checked it just to be sure, and I did create all categories. So we'll probably have to wait till it refreshes. Have you tried purging it? Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 20:22, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
I didn't do it, it was already updated when I looked at the Wanted page. Idk why that category was still on the Wanted page, but I null-edited both pages that allegdly had the category, and that fixed it. :) Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 21:44, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
I've seen you posting on other people's talk pages as well, maybe null editing would work for those cases if purging doesn't. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 23:04, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
Oh okay. And about the master capes, that's my fault because I'd really like those images. :P Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 10:59, December 17, 2015 (UTC)

Re: redlinksEdit

Hey, thanks for letting me know -- I've removed the list. Yes, I think those should have pages. And yeah, 5 years ago the standard was to not have separate pages for those sorts of things, although we were (and still are) inconsistent. That's why I made a thread about changing the policy here. Feel free to chime in. ʞooɔ 17:27, December 16, 2015 (UTC)

That's a good question, not that I know of. Have you tried Cqm or Cook? Maybe they know? Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 08:28, December 24, 2015 (UTC)

Hey -- so far as I know, there's not a super easy way to do that. You could look into using DPL, but even then it's a pretty time consuming thing (though totally doable if you want to spent 30 minutes compiling the list). The other option would be to use the database dump to first find all the redirects, then find all the things that link to them. This would just be a simple text processing task.
That said, it's not necessarily a good idea to fix redirect links -- see Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Redirect#Do not "fix" links to redirects that are not broken.
As for the dwarven tools, I would say yes -- use the switch infobox. ʞooɔ 20:46, December 24, 2015 (UTC)

Just an FYI that we've already decided we don't want to convert to these new infoboxes. MolMan 17:46, December 30, 2015 (UTC)

RE: Drop improverEdit

I'd say yes to both. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 19:22, December 30, 2015 (UTC)

Good start on the scrolls though, but can you check my changes?

  • Remove infobar summoning, as that was meant to be a lame version of infobox item compacted onto familiar pages
  • Remove the self links to the page
  • Add {{Familiarslist}}

Gj tho MolMan 19:40, December 31, 2015 (UTC)

I would worry about splitting pages first.
I was going to add the relevant scrolls to the navbox. I would keep pouches, familiars, and scrolls all on the same template. MolMan 20:19, December 31, 2015 (UTC)

Looks pretty good! I would consider making a completely new template in the vein of {{Infobox Seed}} that would go in the same place as seen on things like onion seed -- basically, everything that used to be in {{Infobar Summon Scroll}} that isn't already covered by {{Infobox Item}}, plus the other interesting things you mentioned like VoS amounts/prices. This wouldn't replace Infobox Item (as it's still an item), but would supplement it. ʞooɔ 21:15, December 31, 2015 (UTC)

How very strange. I would put it above the section header about the scroll effect (so above the "Stony shell" h2 on Stony shell scroll). ʞooɔ 09:51, January 3, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, move it back -- the section is about the effect, not the scroll. It should be before the beginning of the section. And sure, the GIF resizing sounds fine. ʞooɔ 06:23, January 4, 2016 (UTC)
