The Mimic is a pet obtained as a rare prize from Treasure Hunter and as a rare drop from the Giant Mimic. Once received, it can be set to follow the player from the Companion Pets section of the Pets Interface, which is also where it can be sent to a player's menagerie from. Players who don't want it can convert it to 0 coins. The Mimic pet had an increased chance of appearing and being won from its release up until 10 February 2014. It could be bought for 250 credits when Vic's Store reopened on 13 April 2015, and could be unlocked as a common drop from the Giant Mimic in February and November 2016.

Trivia

  • Mimics are a reference to creatures that resemble treasure chests, appearing first in the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual, 1st Edition by Gary Gygax in 1977.[1]
    • Mimics have since appeared in many other fantasy games such as the Final Fantasy series, Borderlands, Dark Souls, Golden Sun, Fly For Fun, Terraria, Neverwinter, and Dark Cloud. Usually the chest will trick the players into battling a fearsome monster or be a monster to battle itself.
  • One of the names added to the list of available pet names is Pandora, a reference to Pandora's box, an artefact in Greek mythology, which contained all the evils of the world. The original Greek word for Pandora's "box" is pithos, a large jar. Pithos was mistranslated as pyxis, meaning "box".
  • Xiongmao is Mandarin for "panda".
