Spiritual mages commonly drop various battlestaves that are floored in the Grand Exchange by their alchemy prices (9,300 coins each). They also have various other drops that are worth modest amounts of coins. Battlestaves and rune items do not come noted, so it is recommended to bring magic notepaper or High Level Alchemy runes to keep inventory space clear.
Combat wise, spiritual mages are very weak, and only medium level armour is required to sufficiently tank their attacks. The enhanced excalibur is the best option to heal, as it uses no adrenaline and can be used out of combat. If not available, the healing ultimates or Regenerate are more than enough to stay alive.
The best location to fight spiritual mages is the first room of Saradomin's encampment. This requires level 70 Agility. If not available, then the spiritual mages just outside of K'ril Tsutsaroth's room are a good second choice.
Those with a legendary pet from Solomon's General Store will find the scavenge ability especially useful, as it can be used to gather drops and focus more on killing mages.
It is strongly recommended to check the live prices on the Grand Exchange before making large investments in any method.
