A Mystic lava staff is the most powerful lava elemental staff. It requires 40 Attack and 40 Magic to wield, despite being labeled level 40 upon mouse-hover. It provides an unlimited amount of earth and fire runes. To create one, a player must take a lava battlestaff to Thormac after completing the Scorpion Catcher quest, along with 40,000 coins, or 27,000 coins after completing the Seers' Village Hard tasks.
With 85 Crafting, players may attach a shade skull to the Mystic lava staff, creating a Necromancer's lava staff. Prior to the Evolution of Combat update on the 20 November 2012, the Mystic lava staff was visually identical to the lava battlestaff.
