Oak trees require level 15 Woodcutting to chop down. They are the second lowest level tree capable of giving more than one log before being cut down (the lowest level tree that gives multiple logs is the rare scrapey tree) (not including normal trees when under the influence of a Leprechaun's magic or while wearing a Seer's headband). The maximum logs obtainable at any time is currently 50. They are quite common, and you can find them in many places. Good spots to cut them down include just south-west of Varrock west bank, Tree Gnome Stronghold, Draynor Village just east of the bank, north of Falador, between Falador and Draynor Manor (near the wall of Falador), Around the Seers' Village bank for members, and the Draynor jail. If banking, it is possible to cut oaks near the Champions' Guild, as there are a huge amount of them nearby and you can utilise the River Lum's canoe system or if you have 33 quest points you can go into the Champions' Guild and use the trap door, there is a deposit chest down there. You can also find some oak trees in Lumbridge right around the castle. Oak trees grow back rather quickly.

Chopping oak trees has become a fair source of income for low-level members as many people use the logs to make oak planks which are very useful in training Construction. High-levelled players may chop these trees to sell the logs at the Grand Exchange for a fair amount of money.

Oak trees, along with most other commonly found trees, have been graphically updated in most areas.

Farming

Oak trees can also be grown with the Farming skill. Players must have level 15 Farming and may plant an acorn into a plant pot with soil. Acorns can be found in a bird's nest, which can be found by sometimes chopping down trees. After this has been completed, they must water the plant pot with a watering can to get an oak seedling, wait for it to grow into a sapling and then plant it into a wood tree patch in the Tree Gnome Stronghold, Lumbridge, Falador, Varrock, or Taverley. Payment is one basket of tomatoes (5).

Planting the sapling gives 14 Farming experience and checking the tree once it has finished growing gives 467.3 experience. It takes around 160 minutes (2 hours, 40 minutes) for an oak tree to grow. A fully grown tree can be cut then dug up to gain oak roots.
