The obsidian ranger helm is part of the untradeable and degradable Obsidian armour set. It requires 60 Defence to wear, and can be made by smithing two obsidian bars, requiring 82 Smithing. Obsidian bars are made by smelting obsidian shards, which in turn are dropped by monsters in the Fight Cauldron.

In addition to its defensive bonuses, it provides a 9% reduction to damage from creatures and players in TzHaar City.

With an update on the 30th April 2013, the armour no longer triples damage taken by you when fighting in PvP or any other monster.

When on a Slayer task within the TzHaar city it also counts as a focus sight, increasing your Ranged damage and accuracy by 12.5%.

When used with the rest of the obsidian armour, it will increase your Ranged accuracy by 10%, very similar to the Void Knight equipment and void ranger helm.

The Obsidian ranger helm degrades after 4000 hits. Once it fully degrades it cannot be reused, and a new helmet must be smithed.
