Pestiferous components are rare materials used in the Invention skill. Level 40 Invention is required to discover them at an Inventor's workbench and use them in a gizmo; This level is not required to obtain them. You need to have the Cave goblin tech tree unlocked and have pestiferous components researched before you can use them in a Gizmo.
On 16 May 2016, the requirements for unlocking the ability to use pestiferous components was changed to level 40 Invention and 10 Goblin Currency from its initial 40/68 Invention requirement.
If you're using void knight commendation to obtain these components, the elite robe top or bottom seems to be the most efficient use of points, as these give 4 components for 350 points.
