Raw cavefish are a type of fish that can only be found in the Living Rock Caverns underneath the Dwarven Mine. Players who wish to catch Cavefish should beware of the high level Living Rock Guardians in the area. Fishing with other players can be safer for an individual by spreading the creatures' attacks out amongst the group. The unofficial world for fishing in the Living Rock Caverns is world 84. Players need a fishing rod and normal fishing bait to catch cave fish.

They were introduced with the Living Rock Caverns update on 17 September 2009. They heal 200 life points (up to your max Life Points) and boosts a random combat skill by 2 points (excluding constitution, summoning and prayer). Cavefish, like all other fish, are consumed in one bite.

Players need 85 Fishing to catch cavefish, and 88 Cooking to cook them. Fishing Cavefish yields 300 experience and players will receive ~40k xp/hour, while cooking yields 214 experience. Players wearing cooking gauntlets will stop burning Cavefish at level 94 Cooking. By cooking cavefish, players will receive ~259k xp/hour, which is slightly more than sharks.

Trivia

  • The Cavefish is based on an actual fish, the Hatchetfish.
