The ray is an item used in the quest Hunt for Red Raktuber. Wearing the ray may be a requirement to use the conch shell to signal the penguin submarine to surface.

The ray can be worn on the head after completing the quest. It is only used for appearance and as a sign that the player has completed the quest as it has no bonuses. It is acquired at the same time as the three other headgears (puffer, octopus and monkfish) from the quest.
