Resource dungeons were first mentioned in the May 2010 Developers' Blog Beyond the Release[1] and mentioned again in the July Behind the Scenes update. The Behind the Scenes stated that "there are more than fifteen" of these resource dungeons, but the initial release included only fourteen scattered around RuneScape in both members and free-to-play areas, such as Edgeville dungeon[2]. Each dungeon requires a Dungeoneering level to enter it, and will give a one-time reward for discovering it — along with other resources such as new runite rocks or the frost dragon's lair[2]. Note that while Experience is given for finding a dungeon, tokens are not, similar to using experience lamps or penguin points. Finding all fourteen currently released dungeons gives a total one-off experience reward of 86,600xp.

On release, the Knowledge Base said that the volcano dungeon's contents were "Implings" and that Lesser demons were the only monsters in there. In fact, Implings are not in there at all and Imps are the other monster with the Lesser demons.
Impling respawn points are simply points that when you catch an impling, it will re-appear once the respawn time is up at that point.
When you try to enter a dungeon which you are too low level to enter, the game responds in your chat box, "You need a Dungeoneering level of (#) to venture in there."
You can gain a total of 86,600 dungeoneering experience from exploring all of the hidden dungeons, or 11,000 experience for non-members.
With the release of these dungeons, non-members can now cut maple logs on non-member worlds.
