- The mask closely resembles the one used by the character "V" from the comic book or movie V for Vendetta, which in turn was a representation of Guido 'Guy' Fawkes, a notable English revolutionary figure.
- This item's description is a reference to the internet hacktivists group known as Anonymous, who wear Guy Fawkes masks in public.
- This item could previously be searched for in Quickchat, where it was known as the "Guy fawkes mask".
- This hat was released free for members on 5 November, most likely in celebration of Guy Fawkes Night.
