Roavar chathead

Roavar is a werewolf who owns the Hair of the Dog in Canifis, the village's tavern and community centre. In the bar he sells moonlight mead and pickled brain, the latter being an item needed during the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest.

He offers to sell players a drink, tell them a story or tell them gossip. He can tell players about the village and local populace and the overall area of Morytania and Paterdomus. He mentions that werewolves willingly serve Zamorak and hold a festival in his honour every year, and that they are grateful for the protection of Lowerniel Drakan, even to the point of willingly sacrificing a member of the village if they fail to hunt enough food.

From this you can discover many things, such as the average age of werewolves (Roavar is over 400 and he is not considered an "old" werewolf), and that werewolves like serving Lord Drakan, unlike much of the populace. If you right-click him, then select Trade, he takes 5 coins from you and gives you moonlight mead, an alcoholic beverage.

Players on a level 2 Treasure Trail may receive the clue "Speak to Roavar".

Return to Canifis[]

Roavar was the host for the embassy from Varrock. He explained that they were deliberately mistreated by the vampyres in order to break their morale and to encourage obedience, including being starved, and having werewolves, usually elders, being taken to Darkmeyer. He warned that if anybody attempted to interfere in the governing of Canifis, the blood mark would be rendered void, and they would be treated as any other intruder into Canifis - they would be eaten by the hungry werewolves. He led Gar'rth, Kara-Meir, Theodore and Castimir to their storage building, and refused to sell any of the items within to Castimir, stating that they were not allowed to. He ran off when he saw that Canifis was burning.

Roavar was revealed to be one of the oldest werewolves in the settlement at the time.

Trivia[]

  • His name is pronounced "Rover", which is a popular dog name, a recurring theme in Canifis.
  • If you ask to hear the story, you hear a story similar to the Little Red Riding Hood, but from the wolf's perspective.
  • He was originally going to be injured during The Ritual of the Mahjarrat quest, but this was later changed. He had been shown in concept art to be injured, but his name was misread as Roayar.
