This page in a nutshell: Although RuneScape experiences many bugs and glitches, very few of them are notable enough for inclusion on the RuneScape Wiki. |
As with any piece of software, RuneScape suffers from a large number of bugs and glitches. Because of the volume of bugs and glitches the game experiences, it is impossible to include them all on our wiki. With this in mind, only glitches that categorized as "major", "persistent", or "minor" are acceptable on the RuneScape Wiki.
Please use the following definitions to identify how different types of glitches should be included on the RuneScape Wiki. Under no circumstances should examples of glitches, past or present, be added to the Glitch article.
Major glitches[]
Definition[]
A major glitch must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- The glitch provided an unfair advantage to those who exploited it before it was patched
- The glitch affected the game to the extent that regular play was impossible
- The glitch resulted in a game rollback
- The glitch received significant recognition from Jagex staff and/or the player community (ie. multiple newsposts/forum topics)
Notability[]
Glitches of this nature are highly notable and should have an article devoted to them. These articles should contain images of the glitch, but not an excessive amount. Galleries are usually not acceptable. Glitches that give the players who exploit them an advantage in game must not be included in any articles until they are patched.

Persistent glitches[]
Definition[]
A persistent glitch must meet all of the following criteria:
- The glitch has occurred across at least three separate updates causing almost identical effects (ex: player baldness, character/npc model stretching)
- The glitch is not defined as a major glitch
- The glitch is not defined as a non-notable glitch
Notability[]
Glitches of this nature are notable due to their repetitive appearance in game and should have an article devoted to them. These articles should only contain as many images as are required to illustrate the glitch's effects. The article should be focused on the general traits of the glitch and not any individual instance of the glitch. Lists of topics that experienced the glitch are not allowed.

Minor glitches[]
Definition[]
A minor glitch must meet all of the following criteria:
- The glitch is not defined as a major glitch
- The glitch is not defined as a persistent glitch
- The glitch is not defined as a non-notable glitch
Notability[]
Glitches of this nature, while not highly notable, are sometimes worthy of mention. They may be included on the page of the topic that they were most closely associated with, under the "trivia" category. Glitches listed in the trivia area may not have images associated with them unless the glitch cannot be accurately described using text. If a page includes information about three or more such glitches, a separate heading entitled "glitches" should be added to the end of the page, below the trivia heading, and all glitches should be listed there. Glitches in this section should be listed in similar format to trivia sections. No more than one image per three glitches may be included, unless more than one of the glitches cannot be adequately described using text. Articles about minor glitches will be deleted per RuneScape:Criteria for speedy deletion.

Non-notable glitches[]
Definition[]
A non-notable glitch must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- The glitch is purely graphical in nature and has not occurred across three or more updates
- The glitch is client-side (experienced by individual players due to issues out of Jagex's direct control)
- The glitch is a typographical error
- The glitch is not widespread or cannot be verified
Notability[]
These glitches are not notable and should not be included in articles. Images and articles pertaining to non-notable glitches will deleted per RuneScape:Criteria for speedy deletion.
Examples[]
- A piece of chatbox dialogue uses the spelling "happie" instead of "happy".
- A player's game crashes; however, no other players experience this event.
