Evening everyone, I am requesting sysop tools to aid myself while contributing to the wiki.

I have been lurking the wiki contributing here and there for just over a year and a half. Over this time I have come to learn the policies of the wiki and how the community works within the wiki to improve it day by day. I have come to realize it takes all different types of contributors to make this all happen, there are the anti-vandal contributors, image contributors, mainspace contributors and also our general maintenance contributors. I feel that I touch in each and every one of these categories except for the mainspace. When I refer to the mainspace I am meaning adding content to articles. Instead, I improve what has already been added to the articles to make it more professional and easier to read.

I feel as though I have made numerous relationships in this community and I also feel that I don't have any bad relationships with any users either. Yes, there have been discussions where I do not agree with another user's point of view, but I that is just what makes the world go round, differing opinions and points of view, we all came from different backgrounds and I always remind myself of this.

I believe I am mature enough to handle the tools and I assume that the community entrusts me with these tools, otherwise I would not be making this request. In my early times of editing the wiki I was an active participant in the TeamSpeak Server(no longer running). I was entrusted with the rank on the server similar to that of an owner in the CC. I was able to ban, kick and apply permissions to users within the server.

I, xScoobsx, accept this nomination for adminship. I have read the policies concerning administrators. I realise that this nomination may fail. If I do get community consensus, I promise not to abuse my tools because I realise that this is a serious offence. If the community finds that I have done so, my tools will be revoked, and in extreme cases I could be given a community ban. Signed, xScoobsx Talk Contribs 07:20, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Questions for the nominee

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?

I intend on taking part in image maintenance, anti-vandal, and other minor administrative tasks. Everyday I log-in I go through the recent file uploads and add correct categories, file names, templates and speedy deletion candidates. I am constantly tagging images to be deleted whether it be for duplication or the necessity of the image. While dabbling in image maintenance I also keep an eye on the recent changes using Suppa's useful tools. I undo, revert, warn and advise IP's and users when I see the need to do so. Unlike some users that may remove content recently added because it was added in an improper manner, I revise the content so we are able to use it in our articles instead of removing a good faith edit. With watching the RC I run into vandals and instead of contacting an admin, whether it be IRC or chat, I can instead use the sysop tools and stop the vandalism immediately. I know I kind of went off on a tangent as to my contributions but I believe they show how the tools will speed up my process of contributions as a user.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Wiki, and why?

I believe my best contributions to the wiki are my image maintenance edits. I am able to crop, add transparencies, rotate, etc. I also clean-up behind those users that upload images that may forget to remove a template or add a template when uploading a new file. As stated above, I also think that I am an all around type of editor. I use AWB to correct grammar and minor wiki coding inconsistencies, moderate recent changes for vandalism and improving of content being added and I actively participate in Yew Grove discussions that I feel need my opinion or a different point of view. Recently, I have been reaching out to newer users, specifically image uploaders, to aid them in image maintenance. I advise them of the guides we have, that are very hard to find, and some general policies that are often broken by new image contributors.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

I can't see getting stressed over an online game's wiki ever entering my mind. I have enough to worry about IRL(school, work, and I must say, the girlfriend), if the wiki caused me stress I would not be here. I actually come to the wiki after a long day of school and work to unwind and relax while watching some History and Discovery channel. Wink As of recently I have not been in any conflicts with other users, but have actually tried to resolve that between others. In the past, when I first started editing, I know I was in conflicts with other users, but in all honesty it has been so long ago that I can not even remember what they were about and who they were with. Although, recently I have been presented with situations that may have allowed me to create a conflict, but instead I have stayed away or made light of it. If any users are concerned with past conflicts you can think of please bring them up so I can address them, I don't want to come off as though I am hiding anything.

Additional questions (asked by the community if necessary)

Discussion

Comment - With this RfA, I am hoping to receive not only the tools but constructive criticism from the community. I want to thank everyone in advance for contributing to this discussion and the community consensus. xScoobsx Talk Contribs 07:20, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - You have only been active for 12 days after being inactive for 6 months, and even then you had only been active for around a month, with a year back to when you were active before that. It is very difficult to support you when you have shown that you don't stay active for very long at all. There is also the fact that you haven't shown a great need for the tools in the past fortnight. Hunter cape (t) Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask 07:31, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Not yet - I'd expect our sysops to have an absolute minimum of 1,000 mainspace edits (and a higher amount of edits in general). You have ~950, and a large portion of those were done via AWB. Per Sentra regarding activity and need for the tools. I think you have the potential, though. Ronan Talk 07:41, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - I agree with Flaysian and Sentra regarding need for the tools and time spent/edit count. Stick around for a while longer then we'll see if you display the need for such tools. --Touhou FTW Zaros symbol 07:43, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - Above basically summed it up for me. --Haidro (talk) 07:48, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - Hold your horses, man! You haven't even been active for two weeks. Before that you were inactive for six months, and before that you were gone for what has to be close to a year. Saying you've been contributing for a year and a half is kind of misleading. I have also seen you be immature at times in IRC, specifically when Andorin was angry about nick impersonation and you decided it would be a good idea to become "Andorin_Sister". I don't see how that demonstrates anything but immaturity.

Stick around for a few months, keep doing what you're doing, and then maybe you could be a sysop. If the duration of the request you're running (14 days) is longer than the time you've been active on the wiki (12 days), it's probably not a good idea to run yet. ʞooɔ 08:00, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Not yet - 12 days of great work I must say, but pretty much every admin needed to be active for longer than 12 days to pass an RfA. Like everyone said, keep up the good work for a while longer and show us you can stick around. 222 talk 09:01, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - When Forum:Male, female, or both? got passed, you started tagging duplicate images of females in outfits for deletion as they already had a male counterpart. I wouldn't trust somebody with the tools if they are going to go around making comments like that Template:Signatures/Ciphrius Kane 17:30, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose - you've only become active recently, having lurked before that. You've not got many mainspace edits, as has been pointed out already. And as Ciph has pointed out, when you were tagging duplicate equipped images for deletion, you were exclusively selecting female images, which is not an attitude I'd like to see in an admin. Oppose - although most of the contributions have been fairly good from you, I haven't seen you until very recently. questions over your immaturity where also raised. If you stay active for a few more months and continue to make positive contributions to the wiki, we can talk then.to my talk page! King TALKWer den König nicht ehrt, ist nicht Lebenswert. 18:59, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Withdrawal - Thank you for your comments so far and I will use them to improve. I would like to comment on one thing. Ciphrius, what comments did I make that would not allow you to trust me? Regarding me tagging the images, I didn't know there was a preference for both. AnselaJonla left a message on my talk page advising me of it and I responded saying I would do so in the future. I had no idea people were so concerned about the gender of an image. xScoobsx Talk Contribs 19:17, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
