Table within a table

I put a table in a table and the inner table is messed up. The first table is a wikitable which may have something to do with this. Here is the tables:

{| class="wikitable"
! Code
| <pre>Title text here</pre>
! Result
|Title text here
Title text here
Title text here
Body text line 1
Body text line 2

The second table should look like this:

Title text here
Body text line 1
Body text line 2

The Title text here is just a table with no properties except to be collapsible, I'm sure this isn't the problem. Anybody know why? Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 03:12, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Because the outer encapsulating table has the wikitable class, which is automatically applied to the inner table. I'm not sure how to stop it automatically getting the class myself (other that not using the class in the outer table), maybe someone else will know? Weird gloop.png @Gaz#7521 09:17, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, the only thing I can think if is a bad workaround: use 'border' instead of 'wikitable'. Although then it will lokk uglier, but I'm pretty sure we could define a border that looks like the wikitable without the formatting of interior tables.

Title text here
Title text here
Body text line 1
Body text line 2

and then with border:

Title text here
Title text here
Body text line 1
Body text line 2

It's not really much, but it's all I can think of. VIXCIWBucket detail.pngrwojy 09:41, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Yea, I did that here. It is ugly which is why I don't want to use it. I'm no good at coding but could it have anything to do with what's in the MediaWiki:Common.css? Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 09:58, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, you could code the outer table with all the things the class does without using the class:
{| style="margin: 1em 1em 1em 0;background: #F9F9F9;border: 1px #aaa solid;border-collapse: collapse;color: black;"
!style="border: 1px #aaa solid;padding: 0.2em;background: #F2F2F2;text-align: center;color: black;"| Code
|style="border: 1px #aaa solid;padding: 0.2em;"| <pre>Title text here</pre>
!style="border: 1px #aaa solid;padding: 0.2em;background: #F2F2F2;text-align: center;color: black;"| Result
|style="border: 1px #aaa solid;padding: 0.2em;"| Title text here
Title text here
Title text here
Body text line 1
Body text line 2
But there's a huge amount of code for that >.> Weird gloop.png @Gaz#7521 11:16, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

I was just wondring why you would ever use . Wouldn't it be easier and take up less space to just write |?

 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 07:36, July 30, 2010 (UTC)
To create tables inside parser functions in templates. e.g.:
}|no hax}}
Since the | would be interpreted as part of the parser and not part of the table, it needs to be bypassed with . Weird gloop.png @Gaz#7521 10:57, July 30, 2010 (UTC)
Ohhhhhh okkk, thanks! =D

Administrator requests

 • Category:Speedy_move_candidates has left many red links, it is urgent that this be looked at. All, besides the Armadyl godsword special "Judgment" on over 100 welcome notices upon talk pages, have had their links changed to the proposed names. Ryan PM 22:35, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
 • Could an admin move/merge :File:Runescape controls emotes skillcape woodcutting.gif animation files to File:Woodcutting Emote.gif? Thanks. Ryan PM 01:21, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
I've been trying to do this, but there's no option to move the file nor is there any content in the file page.  Tien  01:22, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Just delete it, then move the new page? HaloTalk 01:29, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Tried that already. Didn't work. There's no option to delete the file page (the one with the long name) either, which is just weird.  Tien  01:33, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Actually... wait a second.  Tien  01:34, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
This is by far the most confusing and annoying thing I've tried to deal with in my whole wiki career. Concerned I have no idea what is going on.  Tien  01:44, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Chain reaction, eh? This little problem keeps adding more administrators who want to know why/how to fix this. Ryan PM 02:54, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

It ain't done, there's still no file history. MUZXGPBucket detail.pngrwojy 02:55, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

I don't see the file history as altogether important, the request was to move the image over. C.ChiamTalk 02:57, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Just for posterity (and Tien's time), and my opinion, this is notable. Wink Also, even thouugh Forum:Deleting old images didn't receive consensus, it should be noted that history is important. Ryan PM 02:59, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Understood, I don't see it as the main focus though. It would be more trouble than this is worth to merge the histories, but I will give it a shot anyway. C.ChiamTalk 03:00, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Chicken already contacted wikia, so it's not important anymore. ZMUYJXBucket detail.pngrwojy 03:02, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
I have restored the bulk of the edits, but there are a couple of edits at File:Runescape controls emotes skillcape woodcutting.gif. C.ChiamTalk 03:05, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

What are these links/templates for? Are they redirects to some gold-advertising site, or are they necessary? My thought is that it's some sort of obscure "clickbomb" type thing where it's basically a hidden meta-function that generates more attention in Google search engines or Pageranking. Seems to have no function when tested in a sandbox, other than some link to another Wiki in a foreign language.

Is it best to delete or keep? Fruit.Smoothie 04:15, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

I believe they are just links to pages of wikia in other languages. HaloTalk 04:21, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, they're interlanguage links. The language in the example you gave is Estonian. Weird gloop.png @Gaz#7521 18:09, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
So....should we keep 'em? Fruit.Smoothie 21:50, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
Of course. It helps our editors who speak do not speak English as a first language, and it helps the other-language RuneScape wikis develop. No reason whatsoever to remove them. Weird gloop.png @Gaz#7521 22:15, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

#Expr function help?

Hi, I'm having trouble updating the trivia section and Christmas cracker. What I'm trying to do is make the first point more accurate in that it will automatically update when the GE price for the Christmas cracker updates. Currently it looks like this:

*In theory, if so many existed, the maximum amount of wealth a player could have by owning 2,147,483,647 Christmas crackers would be 4,611,686,014,132,420,609 gp.

After using the #expr function, I would imagine it should look something like this:

*In theory, if so many existed, the maximum amount of wealth a player could have by owning 2,147,483,647 Christmas crackers would be gp.

When I preview this, the following error message comes up: Expression error: Unrecognised punctuation character ","

Why? I've went to the Christmas cracker exchange page and removed the commas. Why am I still getting this error message? Please and thanks for your help. User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 06:01, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Eh, GEprice has commas automatically. To remove them, use Christmas cracker. Anyway it doesn't matter, as the number is too large and therefore is expressed in scientific notation: 4.6116860141324E+18, and I don't think it can be forced to expand it. CDWNRABucket detail.pngrwojy 06:20, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
The person who originally wrote that trivia point seemed to expand it pretty easily O_o (of course, I may be wrong, and they may have been incorrect <_<). Ah well though. It's not a big deal. Thanks, this can be removed/archived now. User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 06:22, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Question: Would anyone happen to know why the "Add category" button doesn't show up on files in the File: namespace? It shows up when in edit mode, but when simply looking at the page, it seems to have disappeared.

The button is still shown on mainspace articles, example at "Zaros", however, it is not shown on file articles, example at File:Zaros speaks.PNG.

Purging the page does nothing. Is there any way to make the button show up again? User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 05:30, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

I have a feeling it only shows up on mainspace pages, though I might have that mixed up with something else... Weird gloop.png @Gaz#7521 12:18, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Wikia has moved the add category bar from the page to the edit window in every namespace except the mainspace. This is not something that can currently be reversed, you'll just need to edit the page to add categories. Ajraddatz Talk 13:17, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Well that's a shame Concerned. I remember a time when the button was on all namespaces, and that was not that long ago O_o. I guess it's recent. Thanks guys, this can be archived now. I'll deal with it Lol User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 23:11, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Could someone please change Template:ExchangeItem to use GEMWHelp instead of ExchangeItemHelp? This is per Forum:Reforming_GEMW_instruction_templates. Thanks. This can be archived after. Infobox item

Pardon me if this doesn't go here, but I'm wondering, why, if the Template:Infobox Item autoincludes the Category:Items, that there are (many) pages that have that infobox, but are not in Category:Items. Thank you, ʞooɔ 19:26, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

In that section of code you can see why. If it doesn't fit some of the criteria in there it will appear in that certain category. HaloTalk 15:05, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

I see. But should that be? I was under the impression that any page with Template:Infobox Item should have . ʞooɔ 19:18, May 15, 2010 (UTC)
That is correct, that criteria is met automatically, there is no "if/then" statement like you can see with the others, sorry that was unclear. HaloTalk 19:26, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Note: I'm requesting in this section, administrators, per Help:Moving_pages; this Help page tells me to ask an admin for help in a situation like the following:

First off, see Talk:Mastices. I need help moving Mastices to either "Bovimastyx" or Bovimastyxes (you decided whether plural is important in titles or not, I personally am not sure) because per the Game Guide, cited here and here, these "-mastyx" animals in Daemonheim are correctly categorized as species of the Bovimastyx genus.

Now, the problem I have here is that the Bovimastyx article is already created. It seems that it's pretty deserted and unknown of, as someone also created the Mastices article. I can't move Mastices to Bovimastyx because the Bovimastyx article already exists. I'd like to do this because Mastices has much more information than Bovimastyx. I could just copy+paste the Mastices content into Bovimastyx and have Mastices deleted, but then the history of Mastices would be gone. Could an admin please recreate (by moving or merging) the Bovimastyx article with the provided information, while preserving both page's history? I don't know how it would be possible to preserve both page's history. Please and thanks. User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 00:17, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

I do not believe it is possible to preserve both pages history, I think the bovimastyx article will need to be deleted, and the other article then moved. HaloTalk 00:21, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I thought so. There's only three edits to the Bovimastyx article anyway, so it shouldn't be too much of problem. User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 00:23, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
In that case, he is just asking for someone to delete the bovismastyx article. HaloTalk 00:24, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
No no, the point of this request is to have all information contained at the Bovimastyx article, as that is correct. But, I'm just confused, as there seems to be no possible way to preserve all history. The Mastices article is the one that should be deleted in the end. User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 00:32, May 20, 2010 (UTC) (Forgot to sign)
Okay, so any info should be merged into bovimastyx. HaloTalk 00:31, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
Yes. User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 00:32, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
Done. Here's the procedure for merging histories (moving page A to B, which already exists) (also explained here):
 1. Move A to B, check the yes, delete this article box when prompted (allow A to be a redirect unless its not needed to be one)
 2. Undelete original B after move (check all boxes, leave out vandalism at your discretion)
 3. Edit B (which now has both histories) to restore the version you want
I'll leave it to you to decide whether to move it to the plural, just make sure to fix double redirects. Weird gloop.png @Gaz#7521 13:33, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks,I re-did the page, changed all of the "mastyx"es to "bovimastyx", etc, but what are these double redirects you speak of O_o? It seems you've already fixed them! Or am I thinking of something totally different Concerned?? User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 20:34, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
I mean if you move what is now Bovimastyx to the plural Bovimastyxes, make sure that you fix them. If its not being moved then there won't be any to fix Lol Weird gloop.png @Gaz#7521 21:15, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Ahh, I see Wink. I think I'll leave it singular (unless someone else would like to make it plural, I wouldn't mind). Thanks for your help Gaz, this can be archived now =D User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 03:00, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

I find very commonly when I rollback an edit, it doesn't even appear on the history and someone else turns out to have rolled it back without an edit conflict. Is there a reason it does this or is it a glitch?

Yes, something like this:

// File namespace

	window.RTETemplatesDropdown = [

EDIT CONFLICT: "bar", you should see this as "bar" but the code is "{bar}". The parameter "foo" has a default of "bar", that means if "foo" is not defined (like this: ), it will define "foo" as "bar". Full Slayer Helmet! With this, MEEP will instead produce the result Defence and if anything else it will default to MOOOO. In case your wondering "#switch" is not a template, it is a parser function. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 22:07, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
I know what switch is, but thanks.
 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 22:22, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
In switch, how do I make it that if anything is entered, it does a certain thing. I remember seeing this once on a template.

Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 22:49, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
So is it like
|==<insert what you want here>
 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 06:02, August 25, 2010 (UTC)
No, this will make it so if anything is entered, it does a certain thing (in this case "MOOOO"), the
is there so nothing, which is the default of "1", will produce nothing and anything else will come out as "MOOOO". So it would be this:
|#default=<insert what you want here>
Another (perhaps easier) way of doing this is
{{#if:{}||<insert what you want here>}}
same function, different code. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 07:19, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Okay so:

|{{#if:{}||<insert what you want here>}}
|#default=<insert what you want here>

Because well, I don't need to have the = because if nothing is entered, it will go to the default. Anything appear to be wrong with that code?

 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 07:30, August 25, 2010 (UTC)
No, I meant you could replace the whole thing with that code. And the
is needed because without it it will just show the default, no matter what, anything entered, nothing entered, would be the exact same as if the default "<insert what you want here>" was just in plain text, no functions.
|#default=<insert what you want here>

<insert what you want here>

Stubs and "Needs Image" Categories

I just have a few questions about these two categories. First of all, nearly every article I view is tagged with "This article is a stub". I don't know about you all, but there is only so much one can say about certain articles. If people can obviously not come up with more to say about certain articles, why do we need to have them stamped with a Stub? Secondly, there are a few articles with the "Needs Image" category which seem to have all the images they can possibly get. A few examples would be attack, defence, magic, gorgonite ore, bathus rock.... So, why do these articles need *more* images?

 1. REDIRECT User:Urbancowgurl777/Signature 03:26, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
First, do you have any examples of these articles? And second, I'm not sure about gorgonite ore and bathus rock, but I find they get that category from the skill infobox template.
 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 03:34, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
Okay, *opens stub page*. Verak (the one that originally made me question this), Bird (Nature altar), Berserker, Benjamin, Barman (Grand Tree), Bat mask...
Well we should just follow the proposal in Forum:What constitutes a stub article?. I don't think any of those are really stubs under that.
 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 04:33, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
It's still a discussion so don't follow it's proposal just yet, and your link is broken (it's a bug), use this one: Forum:What constitutes a stub article?. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 04:38, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

I'm really confused about whether swearing is okay or not. RS:SWEAR says that you can swear, but not on mainspace articles, but RS:BLOCK says that you can get blocked for posting content which breaks the rules of Runescape. And swearing breaks the rules of runescape.

 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 06:31, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
Well, you are not allowed to swear in the mainspace, that's right. However, as you may have seen, swearing occassionally happens on YG threads or talk pages. Yes, you can get blocked, but only if you swear on the mainspace or at others. 222 talk 06:33, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
Oh yea, and RS:SWEAR is an essay, not a policy. But don't swear on the mainspace all the same. 222 talk 06:35, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

That line of links at the top

Is it possible to change the links at the top of the page which link to your userpage, My Home, talk page and watchlist? 222 talk 05:14, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Just an itty-bitty heads up, the "My watchlist" link is made from MediaWiki:Common.js/watchlistlink.js. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 05:25, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
I think I get what you're saying. I need to make a custom .js to add more links. Such a pity that looks really hard... 222 talk 05:28, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I was fiddling with this (with my copy-pasta powers) and to my surprise it is working. So I know what code to give you, what do you want the new links to be? Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 05:54, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
Yew Grove, my sandbox and my testing wiki ( should do for now. I might mess around more later. 222 talk 05:56, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
Prepare thyself for my first attempt at js. Add the following code to User:Thebrains222/monaco.js to add those links, try it and tell me if you want something different.
function addYewGroveLink(){
	if (skin == 'monaco' && wgUserName != null){
 var yewgroveLink = document.createElement('a');
 yewgroveLink.setAttribute('href', wgServer+'/wiki/Forum:Yew_Grove');
 yewgroveLink.setAttribute('title', 'Yew Grove');
 yewgroveLink.innerHTML = 'Yew Grove';
 var awSpan = document.createElement('span');
 awSpan.setAttribute('id', 'header_yewgrove');
 var awUsername = document.getElementById('header_username');
 awUsername.parentNode.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' '),awUsername.nextSibling);

function addMySandboxLink(){
	if (skin == 'monaco' && wgUserName != null){
 var sandboxLink = document.createElement('a');
 sandboxLink.setAttribute('href', wgServer+'/wiki/User:Thebrains222/Sandboxes');
 sandboxLink.setAttribute('title', 'My sandbox');
 sandboxLink.innerHTML = 'My sandbox';
 var awSpan = document.createElement('span');
 awSpan.setAttribute('id', 'header_mysandbox');
 var awYewgrove = document.getElementById('header_yewgrove');
 awYewgrove.parentNode.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' '),awYewgrove.nextSibling);

function addMyWikiLink(){
	if (skin == 'monaco' && wgUserName != null){
 var wikiLink = document.createElement('a');
 wikiLink.setAttribute('href', '\'s_Wiki');
 wikiLink.setAttribute('title', 'My wiki');
 wikiLink.innerHTML = 'My wiki';
 var awSpan = document.createElement('span');
 awSpan.setAttribute('id', 'header_mywiki');
 var awSandbox = document.getElementById('header_mysandbox');
 awSandbox.parentNode.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' '),awSandbox.nextSibling);

Actually, it works now. I think it was just a delay in cache or something. Could you tell me how you make these? I'm planning to add some more later. 222 talk 07:06, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
This is gonna get be very hard to explain so first replace that code I gave you to this one (does the same thing but will be more clearer):
function YewGroveLink(){
	var Link = document.createElement('a');
	Link.setAttribute('href', );
	Link.setAttribute('title', 'Yew Grove');
	Link.innerHTML = 'Yew Grove';
	var Span = document.createElement('span');
	Span.setAttribute('id', 'header_link1');
	var Previous = document.getElementById('header_username');
	Previous.parentNode.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' '),Previous.nextSibling);
function MySandboxLink(){
	var Link = document.createElement('a');
	Link.setAttribute('href', );
	Link.setAttribute('title', 'My sandbox');
	Link.innerHTML = 'My sandbox';
	var Span = document.createElement('span');
	Span.setAttribute('id', 'header_link2');
	var Previous = document.getElementById('header_link1');
	Previous.parentNode.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' '),Previous.nextSibling);
function MyWikiLink(){
	var Link = document.createElement('a');
	Link.setAttribute('href', '\'s_Wiki');
	Link.setAttribute('title', 'My wiki');
	Link.innerHTML = 'My wiki';
	var Span = document.createElement('span');
	Span.setAttribute('id', 'header_link3');
	var Previous = document.getElementById('header_link2');
	Previous.parentNode.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' '),Previous.nextSibling);

Now the explaining... I'll do this in pictures. Image 1. Then to add another: Image 2. Repeat the second image for more. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 09:06, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

So whats the point of the unused id's? And what's a "used id"? What does headerlink do? 222 talk 11:08, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
No, you need to think of an id that isn't used elsewhere in the wiki or else it will add this link to it (and that's bad). "header_link" is just an id I came up with ("header_username" is the id of the link at the top that says "Thebrains222" and I changed the "username" part), it can be whatever you want. Try to make another link and I'll see if you did it right. Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 22:26, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
What did I do wrong?
function MyWikiLink(){
	var Link = document.createElement('a');
	Link.setAttribute('href', ' help');
	Link.setAttribute('title', 'User help');
	Link.innerHTML = 'User help';
	var Span = document.createElement('span');
	Span.setAttribute('id', 'header_link5');
	var Previous = document.getElementById('header_link3');
	Previous.parentNode.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' '),Previous.nextSibling);

222 talk 07:36, September 7, 2010 (UTC)

function UserHelpLink(){
	var Link = document.createElement('a');
	Link.setAttribute('href', );
	Link.setAttribute('title', 'User help');
	Link.innerHTML = 'User help';
	var Span = document.createElement('span');
	Span.setAttribute('id', 'header_link4');
	var Previous = document.getElementById('header_link3');
	Previous.parentNode.insertBefore(document.createTextNode(' '),Previous.nextSibling);

This will work. You didn't change "MyWikiLink" to something else, I also changed "header_link5" to "header_link4" for a little consistency for future links. (I also change the space in the url to an underscore but it apparently doesn't matter =/) Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 07:52, September 7, 2010 (UTC)

Two questions about RS:YG

 • Who can close threads?
 • What is a "sticky"?
 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 10:26, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

Two answers:

 1. Usually admins close threads, but if the thread does not require any major changes requiring admin actions or presents an obviously "absurd" idea, experienced users are welcome to close them. Policy states that only admins are allowed to close threads, however occassionally other users may close threads, especially if they do not require admin actions.
 2. A sticky thread is one deemed of great importance, such as Wikifest threads and ones relating to major changes to policy, or new policies. Again, only admins are supposed to sticky threads, but if it is obviously important, other users can sticky them as well.

For both of these points, common sense is the best method of deciding.

Hope this helps, 222 talk 11:11, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

 • How do you make a thread a sticky?
 1. REDIRECT User:-Matt/sig 22:49, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't recommend closing any threads. I've done so in the past with UCS as my defence, but believe me when I say it can get rough. A lot more people hate me than you, but a lot of people also know I'm a crazy YG junkie and that I wouldn't close something against consensus, no matter how stupid I think it is.
