The Rune sword is a sword stronger than the adamant sword. Like all Rune weapons, it requires 40 Attack to wield. It is the strongest shortsword available to free players. Players can make a rune sword with the Smithing skill at level 89 using 1 rune bar, giving the player 75 Smithing experience.
Rune swords are sold in the Champion's Guild, and are dropped by certain monsters. They can also be obtained from level 3 Treasure Trails. As players do not typically use stab-unresistant armor, many players choose not to use this weapon.
While the Rune longsword has the same stab bonus, a Rune sword also has the accurate attack which gives +3 to stab. This makes it more accurate than the Rune longsword by a small margin.
