A Sapphire lantern is a bullseye lantern that has a cut sapphire in place of its usual glass lens. Making the lantern requires level 49 Crafting and the Assist System cannot be used. Lamp oil needs to be added before the lantern can be lit.

The lantern is a light source and is used for attracting light creatures in the Tears of Guthix cavern. Players need to use these creatures to traverse the cavern in the Tears of Guthix and While Guthix Sleeps quests. The lantern is also used for killing tormented demons during and after the While Guthix Sleeps quest.

To make the sapphire lantern, the player must use a cut sapphire on a normal or unlensed bullseye lantern. If the lantern used had a lens, the player will receive a lens in their inventory. After the player is finished using the sapphire lantern, he or she may use a bullseye lantern lens to convert it back into a normal bullseye lantern and retrieve the sapphire.

Level 49 Crafting is not required if the lens is swapped for a cut sapphire in an already completed lantern.

Trivia

• Though the light from the sapphire lantern should be blue, the screen is just normal in dark spaces as with normal-coloured light.
