Shady strangers are attackable NPCs that can be found in Draynor Village. The ones without hoods are Suspicious outsiders. Shady strangers were released, along with Suspicious outsiders, for the While Guthix Sleeps quest. They play a role in the quest, as the player must capture one for questioning.

When a player attacks them, and they are going to die, they will teleport and say "Uh oh time to go!" The fact that they teleport at below 200 lifepoints is a myth; they will teleport whenever they are about to die, and if a player uses a special attack that will hit high (E.g. Zanik's crossbow special attack), they will teleport even at full lifepoints. The known ways of killing them are by getting behind the path fence and using range or mage (if using dark bow, or smoke spells from the ancient spellbook) also by poisoning them using a poisoned weapon, by using Smoke spells from the Ancient Magicks spellbook, using a Godsword on them, or by using a Summoning familiar.

Dialogue

When you speak to the Shady stranger or Suspicious outsider, he will make up excuses to cover up the real reason he is stationed in Draynor.

• Player: Hello, what are you doing here?
• Shady Stranger/Suspicious Outsider: Err, nothing much, just in here on business. Heard Draynor's a nice place to visit.
