Shantay pass (item) was removed from RuneScape after an update, but still exists in-game for those who had obtained it. |
The Shantay pass was an item once used to exit Al Kharid through the southern gate at the Shantay Pass. Players could buy one for 5 coins from Shantay, who was walking near the gate. Players had to use one each time they went through the pass from Al Kharid into the Kharidian desert (From the desert to Al Kharid didn't cost a Shantay pass). If they chose not to buy a pass it would cost 200 coins or if you wouldn't want to pay at all you got thrown into the jail that was next to the pass.
As of 26 September 2012, Shantay passes are completely defunct and speaking with Shantay while having any in your bank or inventory will prompt him to take back all of your passes and reimburse you for what you bought. For a while, players could still buy these items from Rasolo, the wandering merchant north of Ardougne, which prevented these from becoming rares. This is no longer the case, however.
