The Sixth Age, also known as The Divine Age, is the age following the Fifth Age. It commenced with the death of Guthix at the hands of the Zarosian Mahjarrat Sliske. With his death, the Edicts of Guthix put in place at the end of the God Wars are no longer in effect, allowing for the return of gods to Gielinor and for their respective plans to be put in motion. Saradomin was the first of these gods to return.
With the beginning of the new age, a new Guardian of Guthix was chosen to shape the world as they see fit, either by fulfilling Guthix's final wish of a world without gods, siding with a god of their choice, or striving for godhood themselves.
Having barely begun, there are few events written in the Sixth Age. Despite that, there is a terrible sense of uncertainty within the world. While Saradomin's arrival is considered a blessing to the humans, the death of Guthix and the release of the godhood-adjacent Dragonkin and their rampage throughout Gielinor will prove to be a daunting task for organisations such as the Crux Eqal, who are forced to deal with threats more dangerous even than Lucien.
In addition, many of the Signature Heroes lost their lives in the Sixth Age. Owen was corrupted during the assault on the Black Knights' Fortress, Xenia meets her end trying to forestall the Elder Gods return and Linza is turned into a wight by Sliske. This Age also marks the destruction of the Stone of Jas.
Tribute to Guthix
Shortly following Guthix' death, Kaqemeex spread news to the Taverley Order of Druids. Thus the Tribute to Guthix began, as a way to honour, but not worship the late god. The Anima Mundi paid its respects by crying as well, as was seen in strange glowing trees that appeared throughout RuneScape. Eventually the Gielinorians succeeded in creating a tribute stone, a combined prayer altar and small obelisk, by combining more than 100,000 pieces of rune and pure essence to honour Guthix's passing. Some druids agreed to remain with the ancient order and teach Guthix's ways while not worshipping him, in line with his last wish. Others left the order, unable to continue with it after what happened. One of these, Biehn, founded the order of The Godless with the adventuress Kara-Meir, to help defend the world against the gods. Soon the Godless, and other factions of the gods decided to send out their emissaries out to the world to gather new recruits for their cause.
Following the death of Guthix, a group of powerful creatures known as the Order of Ascension who were created by the Guardian of Guthix Ocellus, began kidnapping nearby villagers in attempt to create a new Guthix to worship. Ocellus now guards the door to the Order's dungeon and stops them from escaping, while looking for help from adventurers.
Saradomin vs Zamorak
Meanwhile, the death of Guthix had caused some of his power to be spread around the world, including one such fragment which may have, according to speculation from an expert, created the portal near Lumbridge. Shortly after, Zamorak returned to Gielinor through the portal, immediately causing a wave of chaos which threatened to destroy the nearby town. He was confronted by Saradomin, his long-time adversary and rival, and the two gods made battle to the west of Lumbridge, flattening the entire surrounding forest and destroying part of the castle in the resulting crater. This disturbance also resulted in the relocation of several nearby sites, including the H.A.M. Hideout and a certain Tree patch. The two gods, locked in a stalemate, called armies of supporters to the fight. The resulting battle raged for more than ten weeks, with countless soldiers and beasts of war fighting over divine tears, remnants of Guthix's power. During the battle, Saradomin had sent a clone of himself to task Sir Owen, with the help of the World Guardian, to retrieve the Wand of Resurrection that was in the hands of the Black Knights. At the battle's conclusion, Saradomin, having amassed more tears than Zamorak by a narrow margin, was finally able to overpower his foe. Though Zamorak's lieutenant Moia saved him from a killing blow, the defeat nonetheless resulted in a significant loss of power for Zamorak.
Guthix's leftover power from when he died begun spreading around Gielinor. This caused small craters appearing in various locations, leaking energy known as wisps. Humans quickly discovered this, and began collecting this energy for themselves, for their own uses, calling the new skill Divination.
End of the Red Axe
During the conclusion of Zamorak's defeat, the war between the dwarves of Keldagrim and the Red Axe came into an end, with the death of Colonel Grimsson and Hreidmar resulting in the production of Red Axe dwarves to stop, with remaining red axe warrior being located and attacked. This also decides the fate of the rule over Keldagrim, Veldaban and other beings that took part of the Red Axe event.
Sliske's grand ascension
During this time Sliske had caused some small events to get the gods' attention by murdering the warriors of the gods. After this he sent the gods an invitation to his "grand ascension", even allowing the World Guardian to join in starting the announcement, who was only investigating the reason the souls of the dead cannot leave their bodies. The Mahjarrat revealed that he had kidnapped Death, and a Dragonkin, where he then caused these event to propose a game, a contest for the Stone of Jas. The winner would be determined by who kills the most gods. The game would end when Gielinor's moon Zanaris eclipse in front of the sun, and the winner will be announced then.
Armadyl vs Bandos
After Sliske's announcement and with the depletion of the rift in Lumbridge at the climax of the battle between Saradomin and Zamorak, the gods were forced to find other sources of divine energy. Both Armadyl and Bandos turned to the newly discovered skill of Divination, and sent caravans of their followers to travel the world and bring the energy back to towers which had been erected by the gods.
To do this, they established sites in key places around Asgarnia and Misthalin, and gathered followers to claim and defend these sites in addition to the caravans. The Godless took a more direct action during the second major battle of the Sixth Age. Members of the Godless would ambush caravans belonging to the two factions in order to prevent one side or the other from gaining a stronghold on the region. At times, they would offer a temporary truce to the combatants. The battle ended during the beginning of the second year with Armadyl victory, Bandos was defeated, and killed.
Return of Zaros
Zaros had made contact with his loyal followers to prepare for his return, needing the help of the World Guardian. Sliske had done something to prevent most Mahjarrat from entering the shadow realm. Zaros had return with a new body, and only alerted some of his loyal followers, including his emissary. This was also the time when the World Gate was reopened to the public. Zaros also excommunicated Sliske, forbidding him for having any business with the Zarosians. This event also reveals the motive of the Elder Gods and Zaros' plans to deal with them.
Party of the gods
Not long after Zaros returned to Gielinor, the goddess of the monkeys Marimbo returned. As soon as she returned, she faced up against the god of cabbages, Brassica Prime, at Saradomin's old camp next to the Lumbridge Crater. The Emissary of the Godless, Holstein, arrived to disrupt Marimbo and Brassica Prime's contest. Unlike other god battles, the two gods didn't want to fight. They decided to have a non-fatal competition with each other. Brassica was the victor of this competition, with Marimbo landing in second, and the Godless in third, almost beating the goddess score.
During this event Ashdale had been attacked by creatures known as Crassian, who were kidnapping the citizen of the island. Thanks to the World Guardian, they managed to save the people of Ashdale by defeating a larger crassian known as Agoroth.
After Bandos' death, his followers had gathered together and murdered some of the human Bandosians, believing it was partly their fault for his death. Soon after, they decide to take their revenge on residents of Dorgesh-Kaan, believing because of their deed off rebelling against their god during his attempt to return. Scouts of Dorgesh-Kaan had blocked off the where the Bandosian army were at to avoid them from getting to the city. Thanks to the World Guardian and Zanik, the Bandosians were distracted from their original task and held a tournament to decide who should lead the faction. This event lead to the fate of the Bandosians and Zanik herself.
Revival of Prifddinas
With the help of the World Guardian, the elven city of Prifddinas was regrown from the Great Library by the once-lost elven elders, and the Dark Lord, a cast-off aspect of Seren fascinated with death, was destroyed. King Lathas was also killed during these events, either by the World Guardian, or by the Dark Lord, and Lord Iorwerth was also killed by the Dark Lord during the battle. The rule over the kingdom of Kandarin was given to King Thoros during this event.
As Tuska hurdled through space to consume Gielinor, Astromancer Wizard Chambers sent adventurers to Tuska's back to stop her. Aligning with Saradominist, Zamorakian, Armadylian, and the Godless factions, adventurers charged an Anima Mundi spear, then buried them into Tuska's skull to weaken her barrier set up around her by the anima she had absorbed. Following Godless victory against Tuska, with Vorago dealing the final blow, having Tuska land south of the Wizards' Tower. The portal on Tuska's back granted access to Mazcab within a week later, which is being guarded by the Godless, and a Scopulus.
The return and death of V
During the final days of Tuska, the Fremennik and the Moon Clan had both temporarily worked together with the World Guardian to prepare a celebration for V, their hero. On his return, after announcing his goal, of reuniting the tribes and protecting his people, plus Gielinor. Of course V was located and killed by the Dragonkin. After being partly avenged by the World Guardian. V's followers agreed to uphold his goal on reuniting the tribes. An emissary remains at V's resting place recruiting those who over heard of his death, this includes goblins, who were amazed by V's stories with most comparing his death to Bandos.
Invasion of Falador
The Zamorakian Black Knights staged an invasion of Saradominist Falador under White Knight control, in search for the lost sword of King Raddallin and the Banner of Raddallin. After several weeks, the Black Knights had retreated after failing in locating the two artefacts. This resulted in the White Knights' victory.
The Mystery of Tutorial Island
A few years ago, Tutorial Island, an island where new adventurers go to learn the basics of being an adventurer, had mysteriously vanished. Rumours were said that the island was sent underwater due to a giant tsunami. Myrtle, a wizard from the Wizards' Tower, with Vannaka the slayer master, and the World Guardian investigated and discovered that the island was put under a curse by Hector Vivian, a hydromancer who wasn't allowed to leave the island until he completed the trials, thus trapping the instructors on the sunken island as well. Thanks to the World Guardian, the curse was broken, freeing the prisoners from the island itself.
Being displeased on the result of his contest not getting enough activity, Sliske had planted his very own "sword of edict" in the middle of the Grand Exchange, hosting as a scoreboard on his contest showing each factions score. Of course during this time Nomad had been trying to siphon all of Gielinor's soul in order to create his very own god, one that is under his control. This plan was foiled by the World Guardian, Death, Icthlarin and other allies from the past, with the death of Nomad's god being credited in the scoreboard. This event also determined the fate of Zanik once again, with her returning to protect the Soul obelisk or remaining dead.
The Heart of Gielinor
Deep within the Kharidian Desert resides the Heart of Gielinor, a location that has a powerful pool of anima, whose controller would gain unimaginable ability and power. There headed the four factions of Sliske, Zaros, Seren, and Zamorak. Each faction wanting to claim the Heart for their respective god and personal goal, as well as the grudge most of them hold against each other. The battle continues to this day awakening Telos, an Anima Mundi creature that guards the Heart. This was predicted by Soothsayer Sybil who informs the World Guardian that they are the only one powerful and skilled enough to put it back to sleep. The Soothsayer hopes that Telos awakening is only to protect the pool, and not to cause destruction towards Gielinor.
Invasion of Port Sarim
Meg had decided to open up an detective agency, with the aid of the World Guardian, the two managed to solve almost all cases, but the missing people case, only to soon realise it was a slave trader named Jed also known as the Iron Link. Of course Meg her self has gone missing after the case was solved, with the only clue being dragon claws. This was a setup by Sliske, with the help of Linza, who in return would get his protection, to try and finally capture the Guardian's soul. This plan was foiled turning Linza into another collection of his powerful wight army. After his plans on kidnapping people and selling them as slaves was foiled by the World Guardian, Jed hired pirates from the Skull region of the Wushanko Isles to invade Port Sarim in order to get more slaves, replacing the ones he lost and to gain more. Port Sarim fought back against the invading pirates, but in the end Jed succeeded in capturing more slaves, fleeing towards The Arc.
Dig site discovery and a new arrival
At the dig site, a woman named Celia Diggory, with other workers, had discovered the ancient throne room of Zaros. The dig site had hired workers to help clear some crystal, and other objects for the Varrock museum using devices from the newly discovered skill, Invention. The dig site is still asking help from adventurers, who collects ancient scrolls for the museum as well. During this event, the annual fire festival was coming into an conclusion, only for a giant nihil to emerge from the flame, asking for help from the adventurers. Its goal is to collect enough burning embers for the Queen of Ashes for her plan, once she arrives on Gielinor.
The moon Zanaris had finally covered the sun from Gielinor. There each gods arrived to their fortress or camp site. Armadyl at his divine focus tower alone, Saradomin at the White Knights' Castle gathering his forces with his commanders, Zilyana who was looking at the horizon and Padomenes who began training the forces of Saradomin. Zamorak had arrived at the Kinshra's fortress presenting himself to his followers and aligned warriors there. The gods were all invited to meet up at the Heart of Gielinor, to finally compete for the Stone of Jas. Vorago, Death, Icthlarin, Brassica, the adventurer and Marimbo also attended the game, with Marimbo and Brassica both leaving the contest due to little interest towards the Stone. The Dragonkin were also part of the contest, ending with the Stone of Jas being destroyed and Sliske's death.
The Memorial to Guthix
During the beginning of the new year, an ancient Naragi shrine had appeared north of Eagles' Peak. This site was soon discovered by diviners from across the world, including Orla Fairweather who visits the shrine to study it further, and the memories it has to offer. Asking help from skilled adventurers and diviners, Orla would continue to study the shrine to further the knowledge in Divination. These memories of Guthix, which soon was named the Memorial to Guthix, a new site dedicated to the god's teachings.
Agents of Fury
Nymora, one of the Avernic generals of Zamorak and half of the Twin Furies, spent much of her life tracking down those who had betrayed her god and bringing them to justice. Now she finds herself locked in battle alongside her sister in the Heart of Gielinor. There she sent two of her agents, Zymthara and Miithrius, to help track down treacherous demons. The two are in Daemonheim, asking help from adventurers around the world, hoping to complete their missions as soon as they can taking a more humanoid form.
The Abyssal Knights
A woman, known as the Anima witch, an exiled Void Knight, had discovered an ancient temple in Lumbridge Swamp that had a seal placed on it. Using her knowledge of Magic and Invention, she had broken the seal, which opened a portal to the Abyss. Doing this had opened a new threat, one that forced the Temple Knights and the Void Knights to form an allied organisation called the Abyssal Knights. Their job is to ensure that no creatures from the abyss go through the portal, which could cause a battle just like the ones that the Void Knights are in. With the aid of adventurers from across the world, they are managing to keep the creatures from coming through.
During the Second Age, there was an anima being known as Solak, who protected the Lost Grove, just west of the main land, from those who wish to use its unknown power. Seren had sent a group of elite elven warriors to aid the being in protecting the island, as Guthix appointed Solak as one of his guardians. One of the elves tried to use the island power for their own, attempting to control Solak, only for the creature to consume the elf and hide the island. It was rediscovered in the Sixth Age as it was no longer hidden for reasons unknown. The island is inhabited by fairies, including other smaller anima creatures that live in harmony with one another. Visiting adventurers can offer an elixir of wisp to a cradle in order to help the great oaken tree in the centre of the island get additional nutrients.
