This article is about the raw version. For the cooked version, see Cooked slimy eel.
A slimy eel is a fish that can be caught at level 28 Fishing, granting 65 Fishing experience per catch. A regular fishing rod and fishing bait are required to catch them. It can be cooked into cooked slimy eel at level 28 Cooking.
Raw slimy eel is used in Land of the Goblins in order to catch a Hemenster whitefish. It may also be used in Fairytale I - Growing Pains as a quest item for magic secateurs. Slimy eel is also an ingredient in eel sushi, a dish enjoyed by the Dorgeshuun cave goblins of Dorgesh-Kaan
This is one of the few cookable items that have no prefix when uncooked; instead, they have the "cooked" prefix when cooked.

There are 3 fishing locations for slimy eel:
- Mort Myre Swamp and south of Mort Myre: Requires Priest in Peril. Here players can catch slimy eels and cave eels with bait and a fishing rod.
- Lumbridge Swamp Caves: Players must bait fish for Slimy eels and cave eels, or net fish for frog spawns.
- Meiyerditch Dungeon: Players can fish for raw slimy eels and cave eels here. This is a convenient method of obtaining food if one is training on the nearby mutated bloodveld.
