The Smoke nihil is fought during the Fate of the Gods quest alongside the ice nihil, the shadow nihil and the blood nihil.
The smoke nihil is a member of the nihil race, created by Zaros during his testing of genetic manipulation. By its examine, the smoke nihil was likely created by weaving the essence of an aviansie.
The smoke nihil, like the other nihil in the arena, will run across the halls and into holes in the wall, causing damage to and draining the stats of any players that stand in its way. It will always run west, and will continue to do this, appearing from a different hole each time, until the player attacks it and draws its attention, at which point it will solely focus on using magic. The smoke nihil has a very high defence, so players are recommended to bring weapons that are at least level 70. Like the other nihils, the smoke nihil has a special attack, which will give a "hiss" warning before its use. When activated, the nihil will attempt to choke a player using a smoke barrage. This special attack doesn't deal any damage. However, it reduces all combat stats by 5 every tick. This special attack can not be diluted with smoke-resisting headwear, such as a slayer helmet or a facemask; however, it can be avoided entirely by running at least two steps away from the spot the player was on when the nihil hissed.
After the quest, the nihils may be fought for their drops. They will be aggressive unless the Shard of Zaros is equipped.
