A snail is one of the pets in Betty's Dungeon during the Swept Away quest. Along with the other pets, it must be moved to its correct chamber in the dungeon in order to solve a puzzle. If you are holding any of the animals while trying to go into a room with another animal in it the animal you are holding will be returned to its cage in the original room.
It returns in the Purple Cat Miniquest, serving the same purpose.
