Snowman (traditional) chathead
Snowball (2007 Christmas event) only appears during certain events and may not be currently found in game.

Snowball detail

Snowballs are projectiles that have appeared in a number of Christmas events, starting in 2007. Since then, they have appeared in the 2009, 2010, 20112012 and 2013 events. Players who completed the 2007 event can fill their inventory with them at any time of the year by shaking a snow globe.

When equipped, they can be thrown at other players by right clicking them and selecting the 'pelt' option. They are classed as thrown weapons in combat, and are classed as a fun weapon at the Duel Arena.

Roles

2007

In 2007, they could be collected from piles of snow around Gielinor and the Land of Snow. During this event, they had an additional function: They could be used to make snowmen. This was done by right clicking them and selecting 'build'. This would result in a stacking of snow, eventually into a snowman. A hat could be given to players by an imp in the Land of Snow, and the hat could be used on the 'unfinished snowman' to bring it to life. The snowman (after life) would move and could be spoken to. The snowman would fight other snowmen, and hats would be dropped after melting.

One of the rewards for the event was a snow globe, which allows snowballs to be summoned at any time of the year. Their ability to build snowmen was removed after the event ended, however.

2009

In the 2009 event, snowballs returned. They could be gathered from piles around the feast area in the Land of Snow. This time, the snowballs had no major involvement in the event, but were there simply for enjoyment.

Players without a snow globe could take them out of the event and even bank them, but they melted on 19 January 2010.

2010

In 2010, they could be gathered from piles of snow within two areas of the Heimland Games. One area was designed for snowball fights, and another for building snowmen. Snowballs regained their "build" option from 2007 during the event, but it only worked within a special area within the Heimland Games.

Like in 2009, snowballs melted after the event for players who did not also have a snow globe.

2011

in 2011, they could be gathered in the Wizards' Tower basement, and were used in a Holiday Minigame to build snowmen to fight for either Wizard Grayzag/Whitezag or Wizard Frumscone. Unlike in previous events, Snowballs in the 2011 Christmas event did not melt after the event.

2012 and 2013

In 2012 and 2013, snowballs were occasionally dropped by snow implings, which could be found in areas such as Draynor and Falador. Like in 2011, they did not melt after the events ended.

Other

They can also be dropped by Snow warriors, snow rangers and snow mages, which can be summoned by Jagex Moderators at any time of the year.

Disassembly

While snowballs can be disassembled, they share a group with throwing knives, which are disassembled 50 at a time. As snowballs do not stack, it is not possible to have 50 at one time to disassemble.
