A Spirit saratrice is a familiar a player may summon using the Summoning skill.
Components: 1 empty pouch, 88 Spirit shards, 1 green charm, and 1 saratrice egg.
The spirit saratrice is a variant of the cockatrice species and gives 75.2 for making the pouch, you get 0.9 experience for summoning it. Its special attack, Petrifying Gaze, does up to 10 damage and lowers Prayer by 3 levels.
During the months previous to the release of the summoning skill, many players chopped down trees for hours to get an egg from a bird's nest, because Jagex announced that eggs would be used in summoning. After it's release, however, the dash for eggs from bird's nests where ceased, due to the high level of summoning to create the pouch and to raise a Saradomin owl.
