Steel platebodies are the third-weakest standard platebody for non-members. They require a Defence level of 20 to equip. They provide decent defence against ranged attacks, but are vulnerable to magic attacks, as with all platebodies.

A player with 48 Smithing can produce a steel platebody by using five steel bars on an anvil while in possession of a hammer, granting 187.5 Smithing experience. Players may then either use the platebody, sell it on the Grand Exchange or use High Alchemy on it for a respectable return.

A steel platebody is needed to make a steel titan pouch, a Summoning familiar which requires 99 Summoning. They are also used in level 1 and 2 clue scrolls.

Obtaining

It can also be bought or sold at Horvik's Armour Shop in central Varrock.
A steel platebody respawns in level 43 wilderness, near the 2 lesser demons guarding the chest in the Lava Maze.
