When you find a stone, you will get the message: "A stone spirit appears and offers to carry your next few loads of ore to the bank." or with the perfect juju mining potion, you will get the message: "A stone spirit appears and offers to smelt your ores, and send them directly to the bank." When mining, you will get the message: "The stone spirit magics your ore straight to the bank." A swirling colour effect will appear above the player's head and shoulders when this occurs. If your [[bank]] is full, the stone spirit will return the ore to your inventory and disappear, and you will get the message: "You do not have enough room in your bank. The stone spirit delivers your ore back to you, and then burrows down below your feet." When the spirit disappears, you will get the message: "The stone spirit burrows down at your feet."

More than one stone spirit may appear during the 5-minute window. Up to four stone spirits have been recorded, but in theory, eight or nine are possible.

* When [[Divination]] was released, on [[20 August]] [[2013]], the effect of a juju mining potion was changed from banking the ores to giving additional experience and automatically smelting mined ores, due to the Divination item [[Signs of the Porter]] having the same effect as the old potion. This was reverted back to its original effect on [[10 November]] [[2014]] with the release of the second batch of Prifddinas, and the smelting effect was added to the perfect juju mining potion instead. Both potions retained the +10% XP boost however.

This article is about the spirit that smelts ores. For the stone spirit that appeared in the 2011 Easter event, see Stone spirit (Easter 2011).

The stone spirit sends ore to the bank for you and gives you a chance of receiving higher level ore, which is also sent directly to your bank. When a dose of juju mining potion (lasts for 6 minutes) or perfect juju mining potion (lasts for 1 hour) is consumed, each ore mined has a 10% chance of finding a stone spirit. Once found, the stone spirit will send all ores mined directly to the bank for 30 seconds, including extra ores obtained with the Varrock armour and bonus ores gathered from concentrated coal and gold rocks. If the potion timer runs out while you still have a stone spirit active, the stone spirit will still remain for the full 30 seconds. The potion also gives a small chance of receiving higher level ore (also sent directly to your bank). It will also boost your mining experience by 10% while banking ore. The ore that activates the stone spirit to appear will be sent to the bank, but will not receive the 10% experience boost.

The stone spirit will not appear while mining rune essence, pure essence, crablets, or stardust. In addition to the other benefits, the stone spirit from the perfect juju mining potion automatically smelts the ores you mine, giving you the smithing experience you would have gained from smelting it. If you mine gold ore and wear Goldsmith gauntlets at the same time, you will gain double experience for the gold ores smelted by the stone spirit. This allows for very fast and effective training in both mining and smithing at the same time. However, the stone spirit will appear but will not smelt anything for smithing experience while mining clay, limestone, coal, sandstone, gem rocks, granite, red sandstone, and crystal-flecked sandstone.

If your bank is full, the stone spirit will return the ore to your inventory and disappear, and you will get the message: "You do not have enough room in your bank. The stone spirit delivers your ore back to you, and then burrows down below your feet." When the spirit disappears, you will get the message: "The stone spirit burrows down at your feet."

Also, mining at Seren Stones, will grant the chance of stone spirits appearing.
