Successful mining swings have a chance of finding diamond, dragonstone or onyx gems. Higher-level rocks provide better chances. Lasts 4 hours.

The Superior Gem-finding Scrimshaw is an item that can be made within a player's port workshop at level 90 Fletching once all four scroll fragments of Gem Finding have been retrieved from the Player-owned port minigame. This item will last 4 hours after which the player will need to make a new one. It will be converted to 500k coins if lost on death, if not degraded. If the scrimshaw is degraded, it will be converted to 395k coins.

When equipped, it offers an increased chance of finding high-level Gems while Mining, and also allows Dragonstone and Onyx to be found. High level rocks have more chance to yield these though. It doesn't work with shooting stars, the lava flow mine, concentrated coal, or concentrated gold.
